Welcome to Day 3 of EPT Loutraki!

Toni Judet - Chip Leader
Toni Judet - Chip Leader

We're back at the Casino here with exactly 100 players returning for the third day of the first ever EPT in Greece. However, only 48 of these will be paid a minimum of €6,600 for their hard work this week with first place being worth €347,000 as well as becoming the first ever Greek EPT champion.

Currently, it's Team PokerStars Pro Toni Judet who is leading the field with 288,200 ahead of Grudi Grudev with 251,600. Johnny Lodden, Jude Ainsworth and Ana Marquez remain of the Team Pros, while we have four former champions (Kevin MacPhee, Rupert Elder, Roberto Romanello and David Vamplew) still in the hunt to become the first ever double champion.

We haven't had an official confirmation on how many levels we'll be playing today but it'll most likely be five or six, dependent on how fast the players are eliminated.

We'll be starting at just after midday, in around half an hour.

Stelios Drosos Eliminates Stephen Duffy

Two short stacks have just collided in the first few hands and it was Stephen Duffy who was sent wandering into the Greek sunshine looking for a new vocation.

The action folded around to Duffy in early position and he moved all-in for around 25,000. The play folded around to Stelios Drosos in the small blind and he also moved all-in and we had a showdown.

Drosos{A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Duffy{A-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

Duffy was in trouble but he received an unlikely boost when he hit a five on the turn - {A-Spades} {7-Hearts} {2-Spades} {5-Diamonds}. Drosos looked gutted until the dealer brought balance to the poker-universe with the {Q-Hearts} on the river and Duffy was gone.

Elder Flowers

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Georgios Zisimopoulos raised to 5,000 in the hijack before Vitalijs Zavorotnijs made it 11,600 from the cutoff, Rupert Elder then cold-called from the small blind and Zisimopoulos folded.

The flop was {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Elder check-called a bet of 9,600 to see the {A-Clubs} turn which both players checked - the pattern was repeated on the {8-Clubs} river and Zavorotnijs showed {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} but lost out to the Englishman's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

Antoni - These Are My Lucky Charms

Panagiotis Polyzos raised to 4,000 in the hijack seat and Besania Antoni called on the button. Zimnan Ziyard was still unbagging his monstrous stack, in the big blind, when he decided to flick in a call. The flop was {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {9-Diamonds} and Polyzos bet 6,000, when Ziyard checked to him, and both players called. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Ziyard led for 11,000, Polyzos folded but Antoni once again called. The river was the {J-Clubs} and this time Ziyard checked and Antoni bet 21,500 prompting a fold from Ziyard.

"I folded a ten," muttered McLean Karr.

Antoni who is wearing a t-shirts with, "these are my lucky charms," written on it, spun over {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}.

Grudev and Danilyuk Clash

We joined the action a little late in the hand and the flop was {8-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. The 27k pot was swelled with three-betting money and Andrey Danilyuk, seated in the small blind, was the pre flop three-bettor. He c-bet for 11,500 and his opponent in the cutoff, Grudi Grudev, raised the action up to 24,000 and Danilyuk folded.

McLean Karr back on Day 2
McLean Karr back on Day 2

McLean Karr has been eliminated at the hands of Julian Herold. Herold, who was our chip leader back on Day 1a, has had a great start to the day including this elimination.

Zimman Ziyard raised in the cutoff, Juliand Herold three-bet on the button and Mclean Karr moved all-in for around 30,000 in the small blind. Ziyard folded but Herold made the call.

Herold{K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

We didn't witness the hand but we are told that the board ran out full of hearts and Herold won the hand with a flush.

Herald Storming The Counts

A great start for Herold
A great start for Herold

Julian Herold didn't have the greatest of Day 2's but he is starting like the proverbial house on fire at the beginning of Day 3. He is now up to 260,000 after this hand.

We are on the flop of {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {9-Spades} and the big blind checks to Zimnan Ziyard in the cutoff who bets 6,700. Our man Herold is seated on the button and he makes the call before the big blind folds. The turn is the {A-Spades} and Ziyard decided to slow down with a check but Herold continues to pound the pot hard with a bet of 13,500; Ziman calls. The dealer then places the {6-Diamonds} on the felt, which changes nothing, and Ziyard check-calls a 22,700 Herold value bet.
