During this break, Tournament Director Teresa Nousiainen came into the media room to have a little chat. She brought floorman Luca to translate for her, and they proceeded to caution the press in two languages.
The main thrust of the conversation was having respect for the players and their comfort. "They need to be able to play in peace," she said several times.
After describing the bubble scene as "chaotic," Nousiainen said, "I'm sure you can find a way to work without touching the players or moving too close."
"The main thing," she continued, "is that you only have one person per media outlet near the table. If for some reason it doesn't work that way, we'll just make it one per country. And you're not going to like that."
The lecture continued for several minutes, and it could have been even more sternly imposed in our opinion. But it was pointed enough, and or everyone's sake -- especially the players -- we hope her words do not go unheeded.
