Manji Moves On

Ayaz Manji - out
Ayaz Manji - out

Ayaz Manji had just 177,000 chips left when he shoved all in from middle position. Mustapha Kanit made the call in the small blind, and big blind Joseph Cheong said he was going to call if Kanit hadn't, flashed an ace, and folded.

Kanit tabled {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades}, and Manji said, "Nice hand." He was dominated, turning over a {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} that needed to do some catching up.

The {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} flop kept Kanit well in front, but the {Q-Diamonds} turn was the best miss in the deck for Manji. He now had the open-ender and the flush draw to try and chase down, but the river {5-Spades} was a blank. Maji's days is done, and Kanit has just become the latest member of the Millionaires' Club. He's got about 1.1 million give or take.

Duthie Bounced from EPT San Remo

John Duthie (Day 2)
John Duthie (Day 2)

Team PokerStars Pro is down to just two members, Lex Veldhuis and Johnny Lodden. John Duthie has just hit the rail, falling at the hands of Christopher Williamsson.

From under the gun, Duthie raised all in for 174,000. Action folded to Williamsson in the cutoff seat and he reraised all in for 250,000. Everyone else folded and it was Duthie versus Williamsson.

Duthie claimed to only look at one card and flipped over the {A-Spades}{6-Spades}. Our guess is that he saw the {A-Spades} first, unless he's a really sick individual. He was dominated against the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} for Williamsson.

No help came on the {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} board and Duthie made his way from the tournament area.

Cortes Busts Samuelsson

From the hijack seat, Andreas Samuelsson raised to 25,000 before play folded to Jesus Cortes on the button. He three-bet to 75,000. Play folded back to Samuelsson and he reraised all in. Cortes had about 370,000 behind and tanked for a bit before calling it off. He did so dominated with the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} to Samuelsson's {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Cortes headed to the payout desk.

Losing Selbst

Vanessa Selbst - out
Vanessa Selbst - out

Under the gun, Alessio Isaia raised to 26,000, and Vanessa Selbst three-bet him to 62,000. Isaia called the raise, and he called a bet of 48,000 on the {J-Spades} {2-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} flop. The turn brought the big action as the {Q-Diamonds} cued another bet from Selbst -- 128,000 this time. Isaia stuck in a raise to 350,000, just about how much Selbst had left. She tanked for a long time before making committing the rest with {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}. Isaia wasn't light; he tabled {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} to leave Selbst dead to the four tens in the deck.

The river was the {9-Spades}, though, and that's the end of the road for Selbst, falling out with about 40 players left.

Cheong Down and Up

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Two hands ago, we watched Joseph Cheong putting out a preflop reraise to 68,000 in early position. We couldn't tell what the opening action was, but we did see Ayaz Manji shoved all in for 229,000 over the top. Cheong thought it over long and hard before surrendering, and Manji was visibly upset that he didn't get action. "You want to see it?" he asked Cheong.

"I don't care," came the reply, and Manji left his cards face-down.

"If you said you want to see, I would have showed you."

A keen observer throughout the hand, Barny Boatman smirked to Cheong and told him, "It's not his hand I'm curious about."

One hand later, Cheong opened to 26,000, and Sergey Tikhonov three-bet to 57,000. He had 340,000 chips left behind, and Cheong four-bet shoved to put the pressure on him for the full stack. After a couple minutes, Tikhonov decided to surrender.
