Giovannone Gone in Biggest Pot of the Tournamnet So Far

Jorma Nuutinen is a happy bunny after a huge pot saw him rocketing towards the top of the counts, still some way behind fellow Nord Ramzi Jelassi though.

Luca Giovannone opened the pot by shoving his last 65,000 in from under the gun. The action folded to Jason Helder in the hijack and he flatted before Nuutinen raised to 122,000 from the next seat along. Helder responded by shoving and Nuutinen snap called all in for 564,000.

Giovannone: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Helder: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Nuutinen: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

The board ran {2-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} to hand all the gold to the Finn.

Suchanek Flushed Away

As we were observing another hand, we heard a dealer yell out, "All in and a call." We arrived just in time to see Diego Gomez Gonzalez eliminate Jan Suchanek.

We're not sure of all the action, but we do know Suchanek got the rest of his chips in on the river holding {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades} on a board reading {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, Gonzalez held {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flush.

"I check, check, check," Gonzalez told another player with a big smile on his face. One man who was not smiling was Suchanek, who hung his head while making his way to the payout desk.

Jelassi Busts King of Bling Peltecci

The tournament area is a less sparkly place after Robert Peltecci was eliminated by our chip leader Ramzi Jelassi.

The action folded to Jelassi in the small blind and he opened to 22,000. Peltecci was the big blind and he moved all in for 327,000 in total. Jelassi asked for a count, processed the information and called!

"He called me? Oh man!" said the man wearing a few carats of diamonds upon various parts of his person (Peltecci)

Peltecci: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Jelassi: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}

The delaer burned a card and put the {A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop into play; this gave both players a pair of jacks, but Jelassi's king-kicker meant he was ahead.

"Just give me a queen," pleaded Peltecci and as if the Poker Gods had heard Peltecci please the {Q-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

"Keep it low, just keep it low," begged Peltecci but the Poker Gods had given him his gift for the day and decided to take it back because the river was the {K-Hearts} and a dejected Peltecci rose from his seat, slammed his hat and headphones down onto the felt and walked away from the table.

He eventually composed himself again, returned to his seat and said his goodbyes.

Jelassi now has 1,600,000 chips and is definitely the man to catch here in Prague.

Helder Heads Out

Jason Helder opened to 20,000 on the button, Radu Catoiu three-bet shoved for effectively 225,000 or so from the big blind, and Helder tank-called.

Helder: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Catoiu: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Helder remained in the lead as the flop fell {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, but the {j-Diamonds} on the turn gave Catoiu the best hand. The {4-Spades} bricked on the river, and Helder was eliminated.

Leonzio Hits The River To Stay Alive

In a blind-versus-blind battle, Marco Leonzio was all in for 123,000 from the big blind and at risk against Denys Drobyna.

Showdown
Leonzio: {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Drobyna: {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

Leonzio got it in good, but a look of disappointment crossed his face when the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, pairing Drobyna's king. Leonzio stood in preparation of his exit, but the {Q-Clubs} turn gave him pause as he picked up a gut-shot straight draw. Wouldn't you know it, the {J-Clubs} spiked on the river to complete that draw.

"Yes," Leonzio said with excitement as he briefly walked away from the table for a subdued celebration.

Cracking a Set of Aces

"All in and call," the dealer at Table 4 shouted.

When we arrived, we saw that Danilo Donnini was all in and at risk on a flop of {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Donnini held a flush draw with {10-Spades}{8-Spades}, but Manuel Bevand had him in bad shape with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for a set of aces.

The {q-Clubs} on the turn was a brick, but the {6-Spades} spiked on the river, giving Donnini a flush and the winning hand.

The Italian jumped out of his chair and clapped his hands loudly. He now sits with around 450,000 chips, while Bevand slipped to around 265,000.

Catoiu Lays Down Top Pair To Soulier

Fabrice Soulier
Fabrice Soulier

With nearly 100,000 in the pot and a flop of {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Radu Catoiu led out for 46,000 from the big blind into the under-the-gun Fabrice Soulier. The Frenchman thought for a few moments before sliding in his entire stack of 249,000, and action was back on Catoui.

He thought long and hard as the media circled the table. After about 90 seconds, he turned the {10-Hearts} face up and folded.

Tau Time

Dany Parlafes opened to 21,000 in middle position, Sergey Kuzminskiy called on his direct left, and Enrico Tau moved all in for 171,000 on his direct left. Parlafes folded, and Kuzminskiy tank-folded.

Kuzminskiy: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Tau: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, and Tau more than doubled to 380,000 chip. Kuzminskiy slipped to 501,000.

Pospiech Free To See The Sights of Prague

Marius Pospiech has just been eliminated from the main event and now has plenty of time to go and see the many sights Prague has to see.

We were drawn to Pospiech's now-former table by the all too familiar cry of "all-in and a call" and we discovered Pospiech at risk of elimination with his tournament life depending on the {A-Spades}{j-Spades} on display in front of him. His sole opponent was Eddie Tasbas who held {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

The {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop improved neither player, but the {Q-Clubs} turn improved Tasbas to a hand winning set. The {4-Hearts} completed the board, ended the hand and Pospiech's tournament came to an end.
