Sanchez Eliminated By The Frenchman

Action folded around to Fabrice Soulier on the button and he raised to 26,000. Jesus Sanchez may have thought it was a steal attempt as he promptly moved all in for 146,000 from the small blind. The big got out of the way and Soulier wasted little time in dropping in a call.

Showdown
Soulier: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Sanchez: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Upon discovering his opponent held a legitimate hand, Sanchez stood from the table and watched the flop fall {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The {A-Diamonds} turn sealed the deal for Soulier, and after the {K-Clubs} was out out on the river for good measure, Sanchez made his way to the payout desk.

Semisoshenko Slow Rolled?

Maksim Semisoshenko opened to 27,000 from under the gun, Sotirios Koutoupas three-bet to 62,000 from the cutoff, and Semisoshenko four-bet shoved for around 475,000.

Koutoupas asked for a count, thought for a second, then called.

Semisoshenko: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Koutoupas: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

"What took you so long?" a player at the table asked him.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, and Semisoshenko was eliminated. Koutoupas, who started the day second in chips, now sits with over 1.5 million chips.

"It's A Game Of Skill, Huh?"

Martin Hanowski
Martin Hanowski

We just witness a big flip that saw one person eliminated and the other vault over 1.1 million in chips.

It happened when Martin Hanowski opened for 25,000 under the gun and Eros Nastasi three-bet all in from the cutoff for 314,000 total. The button and both blinds folded, and action was back on Hanowski. He seemed a bit perplexed as to the size of the three-bet shove and thought for a long while.

"It's a game of skill, huh?" Hanowski laughed before finally making the call.

Showdown
Hanowski: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Nastasi: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Nastasi had a 42.93% chance of winning the pot compared to Hanowski's 56.69%.

The {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} was terrible for Nastasi as it kept his opponent, who held a diamond, in the lead; in fact, that flop improved Hanowski to an 85.76% favorite and dropped Nastasi to 14.24%. Much to the latter's dismay, the {6-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn to lock up the hand for Hanowski.

The meaningless {7-Clubs} was put out on the river and a disappointed Nastasi exited the tournament floor.

Plau'ing Ahead

Aleh Plauski and Mads Amot were heads up on a board of {2-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Plauski fired a bet of 115,000 into a pot of around 130,000, and Amot tank-called.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board, and Plauski assembled three towers of blue T5,000 chips, then double-fisted them across the betting line. Amot quickly called the 300,000-chip bet, and Plauski flipped over {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a set of deuces.

Amot flashed {a-Spades}{q-Spades}, then tossed his cards into the muck.

Plauski now sits with over 2 million chips, while Amot dropped down to around 550,000.

Boyaciyan Bests Brammer

Chris Brammer is down to 470,000 chips, thanks in part to a clash with David Boyaciyan that did not go exactly to the Brit's plan.

Brammer opened to 28,000 in the hijack and Boyaciyan called from the cutoff and it was heads up to the all heart {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop. Brammer checked the flop and Boyaciyan checked behind.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} into play and after checking his cards, Brammer tested the water with a 72,000 bet. Boyaciyan was not convinced though, and he raised to 150,000. Brammer called.

The {A-Clubs} on the river saw Brammer check and Boyaciyan check behind. Boyaciyan turned over {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Brammer looked in shock as he mucked his hand.

The Kloser

Mariusz Klosinski was all in and at risk for his last 213,000 on a board of {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. His {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} dominated Marian Kulifaj's {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}, and Klosinski held as the turn and river came {9-Diamonds}, {10-Hearts} respectively.

A few hands later, the roles were reversed, and Kulifaj was all in and at risk preflop against Klosinski.

Klosinski: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Kulifaj: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop was an interesting one, and while the {a-Spades} on the turn gave Klosinski a pair, he could still win with any club, or king.

The {j-Spades} on the turn did not improve his hand enough however, and he was eliminated.

The Million Dollar Marker

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Breaking into seven figures doesn't necessarily mean you're going to win the tournament. But as players bagged up last night, there was a race to be  in the select group that had more than a million in chips. Jeff Sarwer came up short; Sotirios Koutoupas was the right side. But PokerStars Blog discovers why no one believed him.

Klosinski On A Heater; Scores Double Elimination To Vault To 1.3 Million

It's been a heck of a level for Mariusz Klosinski, who started Level 21 with 300K. He's now got 1.3 million! Shortly after doubling through Marian Kulifaj and then eliminating him, Klosinski has scored two more eliminations.

It happened when action folded to Rami Hajiyev in the cutoff and he moved all in for 175,000. Dominik Paus then moved all in over the top for 441,000 from the button, and Klosinski, who had them both covered, unexpectedly moved all in from the small blind. The big blind folded and the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Klosinski: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Paus: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Hajiyev: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Paus seemed to be shell shocked while Hajiyev seemed resigned to his fate. All three players were on their feet as the put down the {5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} flop. Klosinski hit his set to to essentially lock up the hand, and after the {5-Diamonds} was put out on the turn followed by the {2-Clubs} on the river, both Hajiyev and Paus were escorted to the payout desk.
