They Got Sarwer, They Got Him Bad

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jeff Sarwer's day got worse after he was eliminated by a, "Very thin play" from Michael Kolkowicz.

Kolkowicz opened to 600 from early position and Sarwer was the only caller from mid position. The flop fell {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Kolkowicz instantly shoved for 4,800 effective. Sarwer seemed confused but shrugged his shoulders and made the call all in with {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} for an over card and jack high flush draw.

Kolkowicz opened {9-Spades}{6-Hearts} for nine-high and a six-high flush draw. Sarwer was in great shape until the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} hitting one of Kolkowicz's five outs.

Sarwer was polite as ever as he left the table; one could tell he couldn't make any sense out of the hand though.

The Adventures of Unlucky Pierre

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

Pierre "Zoutechamp" Neuville has met with considerable misfortune here at the start of Level 3 to see his EPT Deauville Main Event run come to an early end.

We arrived to witness the decisive hand for the Belgian after he and two others had already begun their preflop battle. A total of 2,800 sat in front of Anael Barbault playing from early position, while 9,300 sat before Neuville (sitting a seat over) and 9,300 likewise sat pushed out in front of Joseph Jazzar in the cutoff seat. Barbault was tanking, and finally he called Neuville's latest raise, thus creating a pot of about 30,000.

The flop came {J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Barbault made a small stab with a bet of 6,000. Neuville thought for a while, then put his remaining chips all in — more than 20,000. Jazzar then tanked a bit before declaring he was all in as well, and Barbault got out.

Neuville showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and Jazzar {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The {9-Hearts} then fell on the turn, providing more outs for Jazzar to catch Neuville. And the river delivered one of them, coming {Q-Spades} to give Jazzar a backdoor straight.

"Oh no," said Neuville, holding his hands on his head as he saw the fifth-street card fall. The chips were counted down, and it turned out Neuville had Jazzar covered, but only barely as he was down to just 175 chips.

Those went in on the next hand, and following a clearing raise by Ludovic Riehl it was Neuville's {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} versus Riehl's {A-Spades}{8-Spades}. The flop came {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} to pair Riehl, but Neuville still had a chance at a gutshot straight. But the turn was the {3-Hearts} and river the {5-Clubs}, and "Zoutechamp" was down to zero.

The Why of Kitai

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Florens Feenstra opened preflop to 450 and got called in two spots before Davidi Kitai made it 2,275 from the small blind. Feenstra four-bet to 4,850 and Kitai was the only caller to see the {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop. Kitai check-called a bet of 3,500 before both players checked the {3-Clubs} turn. Kitai then led out on the {9-Diamonds} river for 6,500 and Feenstra called.

The Belgian was forced to show {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}, no good against Feenstra's {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Two Princesses Battle over Kings

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Vicky Coren
Vicky Coren

Vicky Coren and Sofia Lovgren were deep in battle and many chips had made it into the middle before a {8-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop fanned out.

As in her hand against Michel Abecassis earlier Coren was out of position and went into defensive mode. She check-called a 1,800 bet on the flop, a 2,600 bet on the {5-Diamonds} turn and a 5,200 bet on the {5-Diamonds} river after saying, “I can beat ace-queen. I can beat a bluff.”

When Lovgren’s river bet was called she opened {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Coren went, “Oooh, nice hand” and opened {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for the same hand!

ElkY Taking the Tournament by the Horns

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is continually adding to his stack with what looks like relevant ease.

On a {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, Stevan Sudar checked from the big blind and then called when ElkY bet 500 from middle position. The {10-Spades} saw no betting action because both players checked, but Sudar lead out for 975 upon the arrival of the {Q-Diamonds} on the river. ElkY snap-called and no soon had he done so, Sudar mucked his hand.

Fabrice Folds

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Fabrice Soulier opened with a raise to 425 from early position and picked up no less than four callers, including Fabio Sperling sitting in the hijack seat.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, and when checked to Soulier bet 750. It folded to Sperling who made it 1,875 to go, and all others got out before Soulier called. The turn then brought the {K-Hearts}. Holding a scarf over his mouth, Soulier tapped the table to check, and when Sperling bet 2,850, Soulier let the scarf drop and his hand go.

Pitbull Put Down

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Davidi Kitai has been eliminated from the tournament after tank-calling off on the river versus [Removed:4].

Around 8,000 had made it into the middle by the time the board rested as {5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Kitai had a grey 5k chip out in front of him and his bet had been raised to 12,000, enough to set the Belgian all in.

Kitai had the clock called on him before he said, "Good luck, guys" and called.

Rudelitz opened {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a straight. Kitai's hand should've been opened rather than mucked but an opponent said he saw him muck {8-}{9-} for two pair.
