Ismail Erkenov Eliminated in 20th Place (€63,000)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ismail Erkenov
Ismail Erkenov

Vasily Kylukin raised it up from the under the gun position and the extreme short stack Ismail Erkenov shoved all in for 35,000 exactly from the button. Both blinds folded and Kylukin made the easy call.

Ismail Erkenov: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Vasily Kylukin: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The board didn't help Erkenov at all and he was already up from his chair by the time the river was dealt: {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Erkenov takes home €63,000, a figure that awaits the next two players as well.

Gruissem Steps it Up

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Philipp Gruissem is really stepping up the aggression towards the end of the day, constantly bullying people out of pots and barrelling three streets.

In a recent hand against Byron Kaverman, Gruissem raised to 26,000 and Kaverman made the call.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Kaverman check-called a bet of 33,000 from Gruissem. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and again Kaverman check-called a bet of 70,000 from Gruissem. The river was the {8-Hearts} and if Kaverman was hoping Gruissem would give up he was to be sorely disappointed.

A bet of 135,000 saw a tired looking Kaverman go in the tank before listlessly folding his hand.

The Ladies Love Berube

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Chip leader Philipp Gruissem opened the pot with a raise only to have Antoine Berube three-bet all in for 105,000 total. Gruissem had chips to spare and made the call.

Berube: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Gruissem: {9-Spades}{6-Spades}

"Sorry," Gruissem offered for calling so light. Berube didn't seem to mind, especially after the board ran out a safe {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} to give him a double.

Anatoly Gurtovoy Eliminated in 21st Place (€56,700)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Anatoly Gurtovoy
Anatoly Gurtovoy

Stephen Chidwick raised under the gun plus one for 25,000 and Anatoly Gurtovoy right next to him made the call.

The {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs} on the flop made Chidwick bet 60,000 and Gurtovoy made the call. Chidwick bet another 135,000 on the {7-Diamonds}-turn and again Gurtovoy made the call.

The {A-Spades} fell on the river and Chidwick announced all in. Gurtovoy called after some thinking, but mucked as soon as he saw Chidwick's {J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. The dealer turned over Gurtovoy's {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} anyway as it was an all in.

Anderson Wins Big From Kitai

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On an {A-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop we were just in time to see Calvin Anderson check-call a bet from the small blind. His opponent was Davidi Kitai on the button.

The turn brought the {J-Clubs} into play and Anderson now check-called another 66,000. The river was the {K-Spades} and Anderson checked again. Kitai placed 117,000 in the middle and Anderson called reluctantly.

Kitait showed his {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} first, but that hand was no good as Anderson tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

Finger Causing Schwartz Trouble

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On the turn of a {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{A-Spades} board, Noah Schwartz had checked and Martin Finger bet 58,000. Schwartz, who'd picked up a WSOPE bracelet last year, thought briefly before making the call to see the {J-Hearts} on the river.

Schwartz checked again and Finger bet 155,000 - most of Schwartz' remaining stack. The American took about five minutes before eventually folding.

Finger let his opponent turn over one of his cards and Schwartz picked the {3-Spades} and let out a wry smile, though Finger told him the hand was jack-three.
