Clash of the Titans Over Breakfast

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Dzmitry Urbanovich
Dzmitry Urbanovich

Dzmitry Urbanovich raised it up to 130,000 under the gun and grabbed a banana in the process, presumably his breakfast. Two positions down it was Christoph Vogelsang making the call. Michael Egan in the big blind over called to make it three handed.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Egan checked. Urbanovich, now receiving a cappuccino from a waitress and gulping it down, bet out 155,000. Vogelsang called, Egan quickly released. The {Q-Diamonds} on the turn made Urbanovich check. Vogelsang carefully gathered some chips and bet 350,000. Urbanovich, now offered some granola by his neighbour O'Dwyer, made the call.

The river came the {7-Clubs} and while Urbanovich was busy downing a bottle of still water, Vogelsang asked if he had checked. Urbanovich, a man of little words, just shook his head. After his water was done for, Urbanovich bet out a mere 285,000. Vogelsang called.

Urbanovich showed {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, but it wasn't going to win him the pot. Vogelsang tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and took it down.

Value for Urbanovich, Luca Struggling

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The first level of the day has been a very rough one for Ivan Luca, who's now the shortest stack at the table. Luca raised from he cutoff to135,000 and Dzmitry Urbanovich called from the big blind.

The flop came down {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Urbanovich lead out for 165,000, which was called by Luca.

On the turn, the {K-Diamonds}, both players checked and the river completed the board with the {Q-Spades}. Urbanovich lead out for 185,000 and Luca tanked for quite some time before making the call.

When Luca made the call Urbanovich showed {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and that was enough to take down this pot.

Vogelsang Gets Caught Bluffing

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang is a really good poker player. There, we said it. He's just really really good. And for the last couple of tournaments we've covered him in, which are the biggest tournaments in the world, we haven't reported on may hands where he was caught bluffing. Most of the time really, he just had it or he wasn't called when he made big river bets.

This time, we did see him run a bluff that failed. And it was of course none other than Urbanovich making the arrest.

Urbanovich made it 125,000 from the hijack and Christoph Vogelsang on the button made the call. Both blinds folded and the dealer put out the {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop. Urbanovich check called a bet of 150,000. The Polish prodigy check called another 375,000 on the {3-Hearts} turn.

The {6-Clubs} hit the river and Urbanovich checked for a third time. Vogelsang carefully cut out 850,000 and slid them forward. Urbanovich wasn't the happiest camper in the world, but after some tanking he did somewhat reluctantly toss in a single 5,000 chip to indicate he was calling.

Vogelsang showed his {J-Spades}{10-Spades} and Urbanovich revealed {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the full house.

Luca Finds Kings to Double Through Kaverman

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Ivan Luca
Ivan Luca

The action folded to Byron Kaverman on the button and he moved all in for, which got Sylvain Loosli to fold right away. Ivan Luca looked down at his cards and snap-called, creating the following showdown.

Luca: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Kaverman: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and after counting down the stacks Kaverman was left with just 115,000 chips.

There is Still Hope For Kaverman

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Byron Kaverman moved all in for his last 100,000 chips and he was called on the button by Ivan Luca. Paul Newey folded from the small blind and Michael Egan called from the big blind.

The hand was checked down on {K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Kaverman tabled {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for trips. Kaverman tripled up and he's still in the hunt, but with a lot of work left to be done.

Byron Kaverman Eliminated in 9th Place (€123,600)

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

After tripling up, the next hand Byron Kaverman moved all in again. This time his shove was for 420,000.

Action folded to Michael Egan in the small blind and the Australian made the call. Big blind Dzmitry Urbanovich tanked for a bit before sliding 975,000 total forward. Egan thought about it for just a bit before releasing his hand.

Byron Kaverman: {10-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Dzmitry Urbanovich: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, giving Kaverman a gutshot to go along with his tens and jacks for outs. The {6-Hearts} on the turn didn't bring the man at risk any fortune though, and neither did the {A-Hearts} on the river.

With Byron Kaverman's exit the official final table of eight is set. Play has halted to do a complete chip count and make the official final table photo. The remaining eight players are guaranteed €168,700.

Loosli Doubles in the First Hand

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

In the first hand of the official final table, Sylvain Loosli moved in for his last 830,000 from middle position. His next door neighbor Ivan Luca in the hijack, reshoved all in. Action quickly folded around and it was time fo the French and Argentinian player to put their cards on their backs.

Sylvain Loosli: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Ivan Luca: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The flop was a harmless {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}, but the {J-Hearts} on the turn made all the difference. The {3-Spades} on the river completed the board and Loosli's double up.
