Amirov Tripped Up

With around 7,000 in the pot and a flop of , Ilkin Amirov checked from the small blind and Huidong Gu did the same from the big. One more check by Ramin Hajiyev opened the door for Saneh Hanibael to bet 4,000 from the button, Amirov called, and that is when Gu woke up with a check-raise to 15,000.

Hajiyev folded, as did Hanibael, and then Amirov moved all in for 38,000 total. Gu made the call and Amirov discovered the bad news.

Both players flopped trips, but Gu's kicker was best. Amirov could still win with an eight, and of course there were chop opportunities, but none materialized as the blanked on the turn followed by the river.
