Jorgensen Eliminated

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We ran into Theo Jørgensen in the hall ways and asked him (very politely) what had happened. He told us action folded to him in the small blind and he limped in with {K-}{K-}. The big blind bumped it up to 2,800 and Jørgensen three bet to 7,000. The big blind clicked it back to 11,000 and Jørgensen moved in for around 30,000. The big blind called and had aces, crushing Jørgensen. Five community cards later Jørgensen left the tournament room.

De Meulder Ships the River

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Just before the level went up, Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder raised from the hijack, how much we're not sure, and Andrey Kotelnikov called from the big blind to see a flop of {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Kotelnikov check-called a bet of 2,500 and then opted to lead out for 3,000 on the {9-Hearts} turn.

De Meulder made the call and then moved all in for his last 10,400 after Kotelnikov had checked the {3-Spades} river. It did the trick as Kotelnikov gave up on the hand.

Muehloecker Raises the Flop

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a flop of {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} we saw both blinds check to Alen Bilic who sat under the gun and bet 3,200. Thomas Muehloecker on the button raised to 8,000 and bot blinds folded. Bilic made the call and both players checked the {2-Spades} on the turn. The {10-Hearts} completed the board and Bilic fired 7,700. Muehloecker called after giving it some thoughts, and his {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} turned out to be good against Bilic's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

Jaka on the Rise

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Faraz Jaka was the initial raiser and Hani Bahna defended out of the blinds to check.call a continuation bet on the {8-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{K-Spades} flop. Bahna also checked the {K-Hearts} turn and called a bet worth 5,700 before betting 9,000 on the {6-Clubs} river. Jaka called and Bahna mucked to give up the pot.

Soika Busts to Jensen

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Ihar Soika open-shoved for his last 13,100 chips from the hijack and Frederik Jensen called from one seat over, all the other players behind them folded. Soika showed {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Jensen had the {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, immediately finding help on the {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. The one remaining eight in the deck didn't come, instead the {J-Hearts} turn and {10-Clubs} river filled up the board.

Stephensen Eliminated

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

WSOP Main Event runner-up Felix Stephensen has been eliminated from the tournament. We saw him get up from his table and asked Johnny Lodden what had happened. The Norwegian Team Pro told us Stephensen had had {10-}{4-} on {4-Spades}{4-}{5-Spades} where he defended from the blinds. He got it in after check-raising and turned out to be up against {5-}{5-}. Stephensen needed a four or running tens, and didn't get either. That left him crippled, and he hit the rail a short time later after running {a-}{10-} suited into {a-}{j-}.

Stephensen is joined by the likes of Zinno and Alvarado on the rail, and a whole bunch more:

Losing Chips Fast

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

How the chips went in remains a mystery, but we do know that Fabrice Soulier got his stack of 19,000 all in preflop and was behind recent WSOP Europe bracelet winner Dietrich Fast.

Fast: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Soulier: {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Soulier's best chance of staying alive was to catch an ace, and he did just that on the {6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop. Neither the {3-Hearts} turn nor {2-Spades} river was the nine Fast needed, and Soulier shipped the double.

Hunichen and Barbour Control Their Table

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Natasha Barbour
Natasha Barbour

The player in the hijack opened to 2,500 and Chris Hunichen three-bet from one seat over in the cutoff to 6,200. The initial raiser folded and Hunichen raked in the chips, something he must have done a lot early on Day 2 because he amassed a quite decent stack. Over in the nine seat, Natasha Barbour took the same route and also three-bet successfully in the small blind for an equally nice start into the day thus far.

Nice Spot for Ricardo Alvarado

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Rafael Oria Vazquez opened to 2,500 and Miltiadis Kyriakides called from one seat over before Antoine Vranken moved all in for 12,300 from the button. Ricardo Alvarado shoved out of the big blind for more than 50,000 and Oria Vazquez as well as Kyriakides both folded.

Vranken: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Alvarado: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs} and the set of kings won the pot for Alvarado.
