Houzvicek Puts Ostanin to the Test

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Anton Ostanin
Anton Ostanin

There were two players in and one of them was the reigning Champion of this event. The other was Anton Ostanin and he and Matous Houzvicek were facing a {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} board on the turn.

Houzvicek lead all-in and he had his opponent covered. Ostanin thought about for a couple of minutes before another player called clock and the floor was brought over. Ostanin couldn't find a call and turned over {j-Spades}{10-Spades} when his time ran out. He had an open-ended straight and a flush draw but Houzvicek tabled {a-Spades}{2-Spades}, holding the better hand and blocking some of Ostanin's outs.

Houzvicek has exceed the 300,000 mark now.

Kovalenko Eliminated by Kushnerov

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Denis Kushnerov
Denis Kushnerov

Denis Kushnerov opened the button and Pavel Kovalenko and Vytautas Semaska called in the small and big blinds respectively.

The dealer laid {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} on the flop and after two checks, Kushnerov continued for 15,000. Only Kovalenko called and the duo went heads up to the turn.

It came the {k-Spades} and Kovalenko checked again. Kushnerov barreled for 35,000 and Kovalenko counted out his chips. After some time in the tank he moved all in for another 29,000 on top and it was a quick call from Kushnerov.

Kovalenko turned over {q-Spades}{10-Spades}, which was ahead on the flop until Kushnerov hit a better pair with {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} on the turn. Kovalenko had a flush draw for some extra equity but the {j-Hearts} river didn't improve him and he hit the rail.

Kushnerov had a decent stack prior to this hand but is now up there with the best of them.

Ved on the Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Stepan Mikhno opened 11,000 on the hijack and Kartik Ved three-bet to 34,000. Mikhno asked to see how much Ved was playing behind before raising to commit his opponent. Ved quickly put the rest of it in and when Mikhno called, they turned their cards face up.

Kartik Ved: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Stepan Mikhno: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Mikhno was looking for an ace but the flop fell a low {6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The {8-Diamonds} turn gave both players a flush draw but Ved's was the higher, leaving Mikhno with just two aces to hit. It was a {2-Clubs} brick for Ved who has moved up the rankings.

Zubov Uses His Stack Well

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Alexander Zubov was sat in the small blind and three-bet all in over a cutoff raise by Chi-Jen Chen and a button flat from Leonid Timonin. He had both players covered and it looked like a difficult spot for Chen who tanked before folding. Timonin also laid it down and Zubov scooped it up.
