PokerNews sat down with former EPT Main Event champion and four-time WSOP bracelet-winner Adrian Mateos to discuss the return of EPT High Rollers.

Mateos says he missed his "favourite tour" during the pandemic, and is enjoying being back in the live scene.

"We've seen some new characters over the last two years," he said. "We've played a lot of online so there are definitely new players who have been big winners online coming into the live scene.

Czuczor Takes a Bunch From Tuna

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Marton Czuczor
Marton Czuczor

On a flop of {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Akin Tuna check-called a bet of 70,000 from Marton Czuczor in the cutoff.

The players each checked the {3-Clubs} on the turn which double-paired the board.

Business picked up on the river as Tuna bet 250,000, which was met with a raise all-in from Czuczor for 430,000.

Despite the raise being for just 180,000 more, Tuna couldn't find a call and mucked his cards, shipping a big chunk of his chips to Czuczor.

Schwaederle Showers Berggren

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Andreas Berggren
Andreas Berggren

Cedric Schwaederle jammed from the small blind into Andreas Berggren's short stack of less than 200,000 in the big blind, and the Swede called for his tournament life.

Andreas Berggren: {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Cedric Schwaederle: {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} solidifying Berggren's lead in the hand, but Schwaederle picked up a flush draw, which came in immediately on the {10-Hearts} turn.

The inconsequential {6-Diamonds} fell on the river and Berggren was sent to the rail in 19th place.

Ognyan Dimov
Ognyan Dimov

Ognyan Dimov moved all in for his last 141,000 from the cutoff. Marton Czuczor moved in over top from the small blind, and Tamas Adamszki folded his big blind.

Ognyan Dimov: {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Marton Czuczor: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

The {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} put Czuczor firmly in control of the hand, but the {j-Spades} on the turn gave Dimov some hope with a flush draw.

The {10-Clubs} on the river however ended things for Dimov who bows out in 20th place for €28,390.

Ivarsson Put to the Test and Then Sent Away

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Alexander Ivarsson
Alexander Ivarsson

The board read {k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Tamas Adamszki jammed all in to put Alexander Ivarsson to the test for his tournament life with 141,000 behind. Ivarsson took up two time banks before eventually laying it down.

A couple of hands later, he shoved his 141,000 from middle position. Marton Czuczor called in the hijack.

Ivarsson had the {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and needed to spike an ace to best the {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} of Czuczor. And spike an ace he did as the flop came down {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}. But the turn was the {q-Hearts} to add another twist as Ivarsson shook his head in disgust. The river was the {5-Diamonds} to end the day for Ivarsson.

He asked Adamszki if had it on the previous hand as he was walking to payouts to which Adamszki did not give a clear answer to leave Ivarsson wondering.

Hallaert's Day Halted by Chip Leader

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Kenny Hallaert
Kenny Hallaert

On a turn board reading {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}, Kenny Hallaert checked his big blind to Andriy Lubovetskiy in the hijack, who bet 60,000.

Hallaert made the call to see the {6-Spades} fall on the river. Again he checked, and this time Lubovetskiy put forward a stack of black T-100,000 chips to potentially put Hallaert all-in for his last 251,000.

After some deliberation, Hallaert flicked in a calling chip.

Lubovetskiy showed {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for rivered trips to defeat Hallaert's {q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, which had been the best hand until the river.

Hallaert departs in 22nd place for €25,760, while Lubovetyskiy has regained the chip lead.

The very next hand on a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, Beresford checked from the small blind and Mateos bet 65,000 in the cutoff. Beresford called.

Beresford checked again on the {k-Spades} turn, and this time Mateos jacked up his bet to 178,000. After some deliberation, Beresford folded.
