Shimizu Hits a King to Bust O'Dwyer

Nozomu Shimizu raised to 25,000 in middle position, Steve O'Dwyer moved all in for 120,000 on the button, and Shimizu called.

"King," Shimizu called out.

"No," O'Dwyer replied, but he didn't get his wish as the dealer turned over 3♠K♥7♣. Shimizu had hit top pair to crack O'Dwyer's queens, and O'Dwyer couldn't catch up on the 5♠ turn or 8♠ river and was sent to the rail.

Mokri Makes a Big Call

Kayhan Mokri opened to 17,000 from the cutoff and called when Paulius Plausinaitis three-bet to 50,000 from the big blind.

Plausinaitis continued for 30,000 on the K♠9♦3♦ flop and was called. Plausinaitis then check-called for 36,000 on the 6♦ turn.

The K♦ completed the board, and Plausinaitis jammed for 142,000. He covered Mokri by just 5,000.

Mokri went into the tank and used up a time bank card.

"I think you have aces, no diamond," said Mokri before another three time banks went to the dealer.

"I really dislike this. It's a very good play," he continued. "Now I'm starting to think you have it," Mokri added.

After another timebank, Mokri called for his tournament life.

Plausinaitis had turned his A♣6♠ into a bluff and was left on fumes after Mokri tabled his K♣Q♠ for trips.

Mulder Gets the Better of Plausinaitis Again

Paulius Plausinaitis had just taken his seat in the tournament when he bet 6,000 from the cutoff on a flop of 3♥Q♠10♣. Teun Mulder, who defeated Plausinaitis heads-up in the €25,000 yesterday, then raised to 18,000 in the big blind and Plausinaitis called.

Both players checked the A♠ turn before Mulder bet 28,000 on the 6♣ river. Plausinaitis then moved all in for 106,000 and Mulder called.

Plausinaitis showed K♦10♦ for a pair of tens and Mulder turned over Q♥J♦ for a pair of queens to send Plausinaitis to the rail.

Mulder Sits Down and Doubles

Yesterday's €25K winner, Teun Mulder, had a warm welcome as he took his seat for the first time today and he got into the mix straight away.

Kayhan Mokri opened to 6,500 from under the gun and called when Mulder made it 19,000 from the cutoff.

Mokri check-called for 12,000 on the J♠9♦6♣ flop before the 4♠ checked through to the K♦ river. Mokri checked once more and Mulder jammed for 69,000.

"I don't think I can fold this," said Mokri. "So, I'm probably going to pay you off," he added.

Mokri was true to his word and reluctantly called. Mulder tabled A♦K♠ and had Mokri's K♣Q♦ out-kicked to score an early double up.
