Huge Pot Sees Yazici Pull Out to Monster Chip Lead

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We picked up the action on a {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{a-Diamonds} flop when Peter Kaemmerlen bet 12,000 from the small blind and Bradley Yazici raised to 42,000 from the button. Kaemmerlen made the call and then checked when the dealer burned and turned the {7-Clubs}.

Yazici bet right around 80,000, and Kaemmerlen announced that he was all in. Yazici, who had 188,200 total, called off and discovered the bad news.

Yazici: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Kaemmerlen: {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Yazici had flopped top two pair, but Kaemmerlen completed his open-ended straight on the turn. With approximately 500,000 in the pot, the dealer burned and put out the {A-Hearts} on the river. Yazici spiked a full house to stay alive. Not only that, he is now has an overwhelming chip lead.

Mike Summers Eliminated in 4th Place ($6,586)

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Mike Summers
Mike Summers

Action folded to Bradley Yazici in the small blind and he put in a raise to 6,000. Mike Summers, the shortest stack at the table, was in the big and opted for a three-bet to 14,400. Yazici casually announced that he was all in and Summers snap-called off for approximately 70,000.

Summers: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Yazici: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Summers was a 71.72% favorite while Yazici would come from behind 27.78% of the time. The {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop was safe for Summers, and his chances jumped to 86.46% while Yazici's fell to 13.54%.

The {4-Hearts} turn made Summers an overwhelming 93.18%, meaning Yazici needed an ace on the river to eliminate his opponent, something that would happen a mere 6.82% of the time. Unfortunately for Summers, this was one such time as the {A-Spades} spiked on the river. Summers' face dropped upon seeing the "death card," and then he composed himself before making his way to the payout desk in fourth place to collect $6,586.

Fritz Neunkirchner Eliminated in 5th Place ($5,389)

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Fritz Neunkirchner - 5th Place
Fritz Neunkirchner - 5th Place

After losing a big pot, Fritz Neunkirchner moved all in from the cutoff for 30,400 and received a call from Peter Kaemmerlen on the button. The blinds folded and Neunkirchner discovered the bad news.

Neunkirchner: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Kaemmerlen: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Neunkirchner was in a bad spot and looking for an aces, but it wasn't in the cards as the board ran out a dry {10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Neunkirchner will take home $5,389 for his fifth-place finish. Not too bad considering he began the day as the short stack.

Russel Can't Avoid Becoming the Bubble Girl

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Vicki Russel is the bubble girl
Vicki Russel is the bubble girl

Vicki Russel has been quite the character here in the HPO Regional Championship Grantville. As she explained late last night, she was married for 25 years before recently becoming a divorcé. After raising five children, Russel now devotes her time to her businesses and to playing here at the casino, which is just 15 minutes from her house. As she's said multiple times, she is a big fan of the $5/$10 game downstairs. Fittingly, that's where she's headed after being eliminated on the money bubble.

It happened on a flop of {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} when Bradley Yazici bet 6,500 from the under-the-gun position and Russel moved all in for roughly 27,000. Yazici snap-called with the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}, which was well out in front of Russel's {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

"I guess I need another queen," Russel said in reference to a hand earlier on the bubble where she caught a queen on the river to stay alive. Unfortunately for her, she couldn't do it a second time as the {2-Hearts} blanked on the turn followed by the {A-Clubs} on the river. "Gave it all I had," she said before taking her leave.
