Welcome To Day 2 of HPT Golden Gates

Dapo Ajayi
Dapo Ajayi

Four starting flights are in the books at the HPT Golden Gates $1,100 Main Event and the day has arrived for the entire field to combine under one roof. The four days' entries totaled 732 and 129 will return today with their sights set on the final table.

Before that happens, the top 81 players will make it into the money. David Berger enters the day as the chip leader after bagging a stack of 626,000 on Day 1b. He and Day 1c chip leader Jason Sater (590,000) are the only two players to take a stack of over a half-million into Day 2.

That does not mean there are not plenty of formidable contenders still left in the field, however. Familiar faces to Black Hawk such as Day 1a chip leader Greg Geller (336,000), Dapo Ajayi (264,500), Danny Gonzales (264,500), Chris Tryba (166,000) and Nader Wahdan (150,000) will make their way up the mountain hoping to make it to the final nine.

Other jnotable players entering Day 2 include Mike Englert (346,000), Neil Blumenfield (320,500), Nick Pupillo (238,000), Jeff Grimes (191,500), and reigning HPT Player of the Year Aaron Johnson (67,500).

Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. as the field comes back with their eyes set on the first-place prize of $152,671. Those who do make it into the money will lock up a first-level payout of $1,917.

Blinds will resume at 2,500/5,000/5,000 with 40-minute levels and breaks every two hours. Play will occur until the official fine table of nine is reached, at which point players will bag and return for the televised and streamed Day 3. Stay tuned to PokerNews to see who will find themselves a seat at the final table.
