Sturges Eliminated in 31st Place

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Mary Sturges
Mary Sturges

The UTG-player raised to 25,000, and action folded around to the player in the cutoff, who made the call.

Kou Vang re-raised it to 115,000 and Mary Sturges then four-bet shoved all in for less.

The UTG-player and cutoff-player both folded and Vang made the call.

Vang: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Sturges: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop was great for Sturges, but her joy was short-lived because the {q-Spades} was the turn card, which continued Vang's red-hot run so far on Day 2.

The {9-Hearts} completed the board, and Sturges was eliminated in 31st place.

Burden Sends Sladek to the Rail

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A short-stacked Todd Sladek moved all in for 39,000 under the gun and Tim Burden called from the button. Both blinds folded and it was off to the races.

Burden: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Sladek: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

It was a race and Sladek was just looking to hold to stay alive. That proved easier said than done though as the {6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop paired Burden. Neither the {5-Spades} turn nor {7-Diamonds} river helped Sladek and he headed for the payout desk in 34th place to collect $4,199.

Landazzi Shows His Hand

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Helen Denton raised from under the gun to 22,000, and action folded around to Joe Landazzi in the small blind, who put out a stack of 5,000 chips.

Andy Echele then asked how much Landazzi's three-bet was, and after the dealer counted and confirmed a total of 79,000, Echele made the call and Denton folded.

After both players checked the {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop, Landazzi shoved the {5-Clubs} turn.

Echele then asked, "Did you hit a set of fives or are you slow-playing aces?"

Landazzi remained silent, and Echele tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} face up.

Landazzi returned the favor by showing his {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Heine Chops One and Then Busts One

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

After action folded around to Keith Heine, he raised to 20,000 from the cutoff, which got folds from the players on the button and in the small blind.

Bill Byrnes, who was in the big blind and had a dominating chipstack, then put out a stack of 25,000 chips, which was more than Heine had.

Heine called and both players tabled their hands.

Heine: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Byrne: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}, which resulted in a chopped pot.

However, Heine fared much better on the very next hand.

The UTG player shoved all in and Heine immediately called all-in with what looked to be an almost identical chipstack, and the remaining players got out of the way.

The players tabled their hands and Heine saw that he was ahead and needed his hand to hold, which it did on the {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board.

Heine: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
UTG: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The dealer counted down the stacks and confirmed that Heine did have the UTG player covered, but not by much.

Byrnes Busts Roberson in 38th Place

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Bill Byrnes raised to 23,000 under the gun and Jeff Roberson responded by moving all in for 82,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Byrnes and he made the call.

Roberson: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Byrnes: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

It was a flip but not after the flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to give Byrnes a set. The {5-Diamonds} turn left Roberson drawing dead and he headed for the payout desk in 38th place after the {5-Hearts} was run out on the river.
