Mavritsakis Goes Runner-Runner to Avoid Final Table Bubble

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Just after the elimination of 11th place, Carl Shaw opened to 500,000 from under the gun. The action folded around to Panagiotis Mavritsakis in the small blind, who went all-in for 4,400,000. Shaw immediately slammed a stack of chips in the middle for a call. Mavritsakis was at risk to be the final table bubble.

Panagiotis Mavritsakis: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Carl Shaw: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Mavritsakis was in dire shape, with Shaw's pocket jacks absolutely crushing his holding. The flop brought some hope in the form of a gutshot straight draw: {7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The turn {10-Hearts} meant that the two would now chop if Mavritsakis hit his draw, but it did give him two new clean outs.

The river {10-Spades} was put out and the whole table was shocked as Mavritsakis rivered trips to crack the jacks of Shaw. Shaw stood up and grumbled to himself about how he had been waiting for a spot like this for four days straight, and how it all had gone array.

Shaw did not get a lot of time to grieve the loss of his chips as he was immediately moved to the feature table to balance the final ten players.

Shaw Doubles After Being Moved

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Shortly after being moved from the outer table to the TV table, Carl Shaw three-bet all in for 2,000,000 chips from the small blind after David Docherty had made it 500,000 to go from the button. Doherty felt priced in and made the call, putting Shaw's short stack at risk.

Carl Shaw: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
David Docherty: {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Shaw flopped a pair and a flush draw on the {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} board, but had to sweat a turned gutshot straight draw of his opponent when the {10-Spades} turn was dealt.

Luckily for him, the {10-Clubs} river paired the board and completed his flush, doubling Shaw to a stack of 18 big blinds.

Rice Gets Three Streets of Value From Shaw

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Carl Shaw raised from early position to 600,000 and action folded around to Declan Rice, who made the call from the button.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Shaw checked and Rice bet 600,000, which Shaw called. The turn was the {q-Clubs}, Shaw checked and Rice made it 1,200,000 to go. Shaw called again.

The river was the {q-Spades} and once again Shaw checked. Rice bet for a third street, this time for 2,000,000. Shaw made the call.

Rice flipped over {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for two pair with the queens on board and his pocket sixes and Shaw mucked his hand.
