Docherty Chips Up in Limped Pot

Level 38 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Panagiotis Mavritsakis limped in from the button, and David Docherty checked his big blind.

The two saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Spades} and Docherty checked to the in-position player. Mavritsakis bet the minimum of 600,000 and a turn was dealt.

On the {5-Clubs} turn Mavritsakis upped the ante to a non-insignificant 2,725,000 sizing. Docherty check-called the bet again before both players checked the {10-Spades} river.

Docherty showed his {a-Spades}{2-Clubs} first and Mavritsakis mucked his hand, signaling that the top pair, no kicker was good enough.

Andy Black Eliminated In 5th Place (€95,500)

Level 38 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Declan Rice limped the small blind. Andy Black shoved from the big blind and Rice looked him up. The commentators on stream were urging Rice to make the call. He thought for a bit and then called.

Andy Black: {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Declan Rice: {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Andy Black had attempted a blind steal and Rice had caught him at it. The flop ran out {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Black hit a pair of sixes and audible gasps came from viewers on the rail.

The turn came the {q-Diamonds} and the river was the {5-Hearts} to give Rice the straight. It was a legendary bust for a legendary player, who made the exit on his own terms.

Black was eliminated in 5th place for €95,500.

Ace on the River Costs Waters

Level 38 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Chip leader Declan Rice opened from the button to 1,200,000 and Tom Waters defended his big blind.

The flop of {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades} saw Rice continuation-bet for 1,000,000, an amount which Waters check-called. The {3-Spades} turn went check-check before the {a-Hearts} appeared on the river.

Rice now saw a reason to bet again after a third check from Waters. The bet was 2,000,000 and Waters immediately called.

Rice tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for two pair, and he extended his chip lead as Waters threw his cards into the muck.

Mavritsakis Doubles After Stack Dwindled

Level 39 : Blinds 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

The blinds and antes are starting to get higher, and with four people left players have to put them in quite often. This caused Panagiotis Mavritsakis' stack to diminish to just 5,100,00. Declan Rice was in the small blind and put enough to cover that amount in the middle when Mavritsakis was in the big blind. Mavritsakis let out a sigh before he made the call.

Panagiotis Mavritsakis: {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Declan Rice: {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Mavritsakis flopped trips on the {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, leaving Rice dead to a runner-runner runout. The {6-Hearts} turn gave him a chance to his one of those runouts in the way of a backdoor flush draw.

The river was red, but of the wrong variety for Rice: {10-Diamonds} graced the felt, upgrading Mavritsakis to a full house.

There's always a sweat in poker, as they say, but Mavritsakis survived this all-in encounter to double up.
