Picking up the action in a three-way pot on a flop of J♣K♥9♦ with around 38,000 in the middle, action was checked to Davide Lipari, who fired out a bet of 17,000.

Jaye Renehan folded but Turlough McHugh called.

On the 9♥ turn McHugh checked to Lipari, who put out a bet of 26,500. This prompted McHugh to move all in for 91,500. Lipari made the call to put McHugh at risk.

Picking the action up on a flop of 8♥7♦9♦ in a battle between the two big stacks at the table, John Ward put out a bet of 8,000, only to be three-bet to 35,000 by Mihal Mazilu.

After some thought Ward announced he was all in for 198,000 and Mazilu immediately made the call to create a monster pot, with Ward at risk.

In an absolute cooler, Ward had flopped middle set only to run into the made jack high straight of Mazilu.

Ward still had outs, and although the 6♦ turn did not alter matters, the 8♠ river gave Ward quad eights and sent him a huge pot.

As Ward thanked the dealer Mazilu looked stunned, but he still has a reasonable stack to work with.

Ward Busts Prendergast

Conal Prendergast recounted to PokerNews how he just busted the tournament. Prendergast three-bet A♦A♥ to 18,000 after John Ward had called an early position open.

Ward moved all in on the Q♦10♦8♦ flop putting Prendergast at risk. Holding the A♦ Prendergast made the call for his remaining 42,000 and Ward turned over 7♦3♦ for the flopped flush.

The Q♣ turn and 6♠ river provided no help for Prendergast and he exited the tournament.
