Henrique Bernardes Eliminated in 7th Place (R$69,350)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Henrique Bernardes - 7th place
Henrique Bernardes - 7th place

Henrique Bernardes had the shortest stack coming into the final table. He was able to stick around a while but never seemed to get any cards. With his stack desperately short and the blinds approaching, Bernardes moved all in with {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Small blind Alex Manzano called him with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Could Bernardes pull the same escape act that Joao Bauer pulled earlier against Leandro Csome?

It didn't look good after the {5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop paired Manzano's king, but things are rarely that easy in hold'em. On cue, the {10-Hearts} appeared on the turn to give Bernardes an up-and-down straight draw. It didn't fill; the {4-Diamonds} on the river ended Bernardes' tournament. He moved around the table and shook each player's hand before departing in 7th place.

Santiago Nadal Eliminated in 6th Place (R$93,270)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Santiago Nadal - 6th Place
Santiago Nadal - 6th Place

It almost seems unfair when one of the chip leaders gets a really big hand in late position. Leandro Csome opened his button to 170,000. Santiago Nadal, in the big blind, squeezed out {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and quickly moved all in. Csome snap-called with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, putting Nadal at risk of elimination. A board of {4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades} finished Nadal's tournament and helped to increase Csome's chip stack back up to 2.15 million.

Nadal leaves in 6th place with R$93,270. The average stack is up to 2.1 million, still not terribly deep.

Fonseca Doubles through Manzano

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

At this stage of the tournament, having even one hand not hold up its equity edge can be devastating to a player's championship hopes. Marcelo Fonseca open-shoved for about 1 million from the cutoff spot and was called by small blind Alex Manzano. Manzano's {a-Spades}{q-Spades} was in the lead against Fonseca's {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. A swarm of Brazilians materialized on the rail from other side events to cheer on Fonseca. First they called for a jack, but by the turn {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} they changed their tune and pleaded for an eight. The river delivered the {8-Hearts}. The crowd cheered and a jubliant Fonseca clasped hands with countryman Joao Bauer as Manzano paid off the double-up.

Bauer Pulling Away

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Joao "joao bauer" Neto is the clear chip leader now and continues to pull away from the other four remaining players. In the big blind he played a pot with Leandro Csome. Bauer bet a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{k-Hearts}, then called Csome's raise. Both players checked after a third king fell ont he turn, {k-Clubs}. Bauer also checked the {2-Hearts} river. Csome thought for about a minute, then pushed out bet of 315,000. Neto announced raise. Before he could push out an amount Csome mucked, prompting a pumped Bauer to open {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Manzano Doubles Through Csome

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Out of nowhere, Alex Manzano and Leandro Csome had all of the money in preflop with Manzano holding the {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} to dominate the {Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for Csome.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and the Chilean doubled through the Argentinian. Manzano was all in for around 550,000 or so and is now up to 1.15 million in chips. Csome was left with just a couple hundred thousand chips.

Csome Doubles Back

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

On the next hand following his doubling up of Alex Manzano, Leandro Csome was all in with the {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} against the {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for chip leader Joao Bauer. The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and gave Bauer a pair of queens, but Csome picked up a flush draw.

The turn completed the flush for Csome when the {K-Clubs} fell and left Bauer drawing dead. The river completed the board with the {A-Spades} and Csome sat back down in his seat to collect his chips. He's back to about 500,000 now.

Leandro Csome Eliminated in 5th Place (R$117,190)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Leandro Csome - 5th place
Leandro Csome - 5th place

Brazil is one step closer to its first LAPT title. Current chip leader (and Brazilian) Joao "joao bauer" Neto raised pre-flop, then snap-called after big blind (and Argentinian) Leandro Csome moved all in. Csome could only muster up {k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, one over-card against Bauer's {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Nines were best on a board of {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Three of the remaining four players are Brazilian. Chile's Alex Manzano is the only person that stands in the way of Brazil's first LAPT title, and he has a lot of catching up to do against chip leader Bauer.
