Rousso All In

Rousso
Rousso
Zachary Fritz raised to 95,000 under the gun. Vanessa Selbst called from the small blind and Vanessa Rousso called from the big blind.

The flop came {3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and it was checked around to Fritz. He bet 130,000 and forced a fold from Selbst. Rousso thought for about a minute before moving all in, having Fritz covered.

He gave it up, dropping to 460,000. Rousso is up to around 1.5 million.

Bling Alert

Quick. Trivia time. How many WSOP bracelets are represented among today's field?

*Spoiler Alert*

The answer is four. JohnnyBax won a 7-card stud event in 2005. Vanessa Selbst won a PLO event in 2008, three days before she finished third in the $10,000 heads-up championship. Scott Seiver earned his WSOP bracelet one day after Selbst, taking down a $5,000 no limit tournament for over $750,000. And Derek Raymond won an Omaha hi/lo event at last year's Series.

Selbst Chopping the Woods

From the cutoff seat, Vanessa Selbst raised to 106,000. Michael Woods called from the big blind. The flop came down {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Woods led out for 150,000. Selbst took her time and then fired in a raise to 450,000. Deliberate as always, Woods took a few minutes with his decision. Eventually, he mucked his hand and Selbst scooped the pot.

Aguiar Finds Another Double

Jonathan Aguiar
Jonathan Aguiar
At this point we've lost track of how many times Jonathan Aguiar has doubled all in pre-flop in this tournament. He estimated that it's at least five, and in his words he never had anything better than {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. That's the hand he three-bet shoved for 897,000 against Mike Beasley. Beasley snap-called with {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

Aguiar's been running good in these situations, so no surprise that an ace hit the flop, {3-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {4-Spades}. It held with a turn {4-Diamonds} and river {7-Hearts}.

"I'm having a really bad day right now," muttered Beasley. He slipped to about 1.5 million while Aguiar has once again climbed to about 1.85 million.

Alan Sternberg Eliminated in 12th Place ($38,000)

Alan Sternberg - 12th Place
Alan Sternberg - 12th Place
Hold on a minute. Picking up jaw off floor.

Ok. Alan Sternberg opened to 95,000 from the cutoff, and in the small blind, Vanessa Selbst reraised to 280,000. Sternberg thought for a moment before four-bet shoving for 1.68 million. Selbst asked for a count, and then somehow said, "I have to call."

Showdown
Sternberg: {6-Spades} {5-Spades}
Selbst: {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts}

- Insert sounds of shock from the peanut gallery here. -

The {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} flop paired them both, and Sternberg picked up a gutshot with the {7-Clubs} on the turn. But the river was the {10-Diamonds}, eliminating a stunned Sternberg in 12th place. With a quick fist pump, Selbst crossed the 7-million mark.

Woods Takes a Big Chunk from Rousso

From under the gun, Vanessa Rousso raised to 80,000 and then Michael Woods reraised to 250,000 from the button. Rousso made the call.

After a flop of {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, both players checked. The turn brought the {9-Clubs} and Rousso checked. Woods fired 400,000 and after a few minutes in the tank, Rousso made the call. The river was the {J-Spades} and Rousso checked again. Woods took about ten seconds and then moved all in. Rousso folded her hand and was left with just 1.06 million. Woods now has 2.8 million.

Two to Go

We're down to two tables of five, one off the unofficial final table of nine. Don't expect anyone to bust out soon though. The current average stack is 2.1 million, or more than 50 big blinds. That is very deep for this stage of a tournament, and with television exposure on the line none of these players will be too quick to get their chips in light.

Big Hand for Aguiar

Aguiar
Aguiar
Brandon Hall raised to 80,000, and Jonathan Aguiar called from the small blind. Cliff Josephy folded his big blind, and it was time for a flop. Both Aguiar and Hall checked the {K-Spades} {5-Spades} {3-Hearts} that came out. The turn was the {7-Clubs}, and Aguiar checked again. Hall bet 70,000, and Jonathan check-raised to 204,000. Hall made a slow call. The river was the {2-Diamonds}, and Aguiar fired 520,000. He remained frozen, hands folded in front of his face, for two minutes before Hall gave it up.

Aguiar Runs Into Bax's Aces

Action folded to Jonathan "FatalError" Aguiar on the button and he raised to 101,000. Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy was in the small blind and moved all in. When it got back to Aguiar he quickly called. Bax then slammed over two black aces and Aguiar revealed two queens.

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Bax earned the double up. He was all in for 664,000 total and now has about 1.4 million chips. Aguiar dropped back to 1.7 million.
