We're not sure when the money went in on this pot, but John Phan just doubled. There was about 33,000 in the pot and a board reading as the dealer counted out the remainder of Phan's stack. Phan had in front of him which was better than his opponent's . Phan had a big stack as it was, but with that double he is up to around 95,000!
Justin Bonomo bet out 2,000 on the flop of . He was up against one other player. That player thought for a bit and then made the call.
The turn card was the and Bonomo fired again, this time for 5,500. HIs opponent thought for a while again and then called.
The river completed the board with the and Bonomo tanked before checking. His opponent fired 12,000 and that was good enough to get a fold from Bonomo, knocking him back to 25,000 in chips.

Men "The Master" Nguyen has been clinging to a short stack for quite some time. Unfortunately for him, his time has run out. He has been eliminated from the tournament.
Three players saw the flop of . Brandon Hawkins was the first player to act and he fired 2,300. The next player folded and then action fell on John Phan. He raised to 4,800, announcing, "2,500 more." Hawkins then reraised to 13,800. Phan took his time and then called.

The river completed the board with the and sent Hawkins out the door. As if Phan didn't have enough chips already, he now has around 135,000 in his stack and is the clear chip leader here in the early goings.
Soi Nguyen, who finished ninth at this year's World Series of Poker, couldn't seem to get anything going today. He was short-stacked around 10,000 when his failed to hold up against his opponent's after a three fell on the flop. Nguyen won't be making an NAPT final table in this event as he has officially been eliminated from the tournament.
Joseph Cheong, recent third-place finished in the WSOP Main Event, is in action today. However, his NAPT Los Angeles debut is not going nearly as well as his WSOP did. Cheong has been nursing a short stack for the past couple levels.
In a recent hand, there was about 8,000 in the pot and a board reading . Cheong had checked to his sole opponent in Seat 6 who bet 3,625. Cheong had a total of 7,250 behind and tanked for a bit. He ultimately decided to fold and Seat 6 was kind enough to show him for a flopped Broadway straight.
Greg Raymer recently tried an all-in squeeze play with but was called by an opponent holding . Lucky for Raymer, he managed to turn a flush and doubled up. The bad news is he is still well below the starting stack of 30,000 with just 18,000.
