Akkari Crushed

Level 5 : 150/300, 0 ante
Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

Andre Akkari just lost a huge portion of his chips after his pocket tens fell in a flip to his opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Akkari was left with just 3,000 in chips.

Unlucky Number Seven

Level 5 : 150/300, 0 ante

Usually seven is a lucky number, but not today. If you're unfortunate enough to be moved to Table 7 you'll be playing against the likes of Maria Ho, Shannon Shorr, Steven Brecher, Ted Lawson, and James Mackey. Even worse news, Table 7 won't break any time during Day 1A.

DeMaci Making It in L.A.

Level 5 : 150/300, 0 ante
Chris DeMaci
Chris DeMaci

Chris DeMaci raised to 750 from middle position and received a call from the player in the big blind. Both players proceeded to check the {10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, leading to the {2-Spades} on the turn. The big blind checked, DeMaci bet 1,025, and the big blind folded. DeMaci, who had some success at the Bicycle Casino back in November when he finished second to Joe Tehan at the NAPT-L.A. stop, is up to an impressive 75,000.

Two Six Three

Level 5 : 150/300, 0 ante

A total of 263 players have officially made it here for Day 1a of The Big Event. With a huge tournament on the Sunday radar for most players in the online realms, we'd expect the Day 1b crowd to be a bit smaller than today's.

Cheong Moves All In

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

With around 5,000 in the pot and a flop of {J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Joseph Cheong checked, his opponent in middle position bet 4,000, and Cheong check-raised all in for 15,225 more. His opponent thought long and hard before folding. Cheong is up to around 27,000.

Kravchenko KO'd

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

We walked up to the table to see a board of {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} out in the middle of the table and Alexander Kravchenko deep in the tank. There was about 28,000 in the pot already, and Kravchenko's opponent had moved all in with his covering stack. Al Krav had about 15,000 left in front of him, and after some time, he made the call for the remainder of his chips.

It was a bad one. His opponent turned up {6-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for the flopped straight, and Kravchenko mucked and headed out the door.
