Two Players Enter...

Good afternoon and welcome to Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2010 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. Over the course of the next three days 57 invited players and 7 qualifiers will compete in an NCAA basketball-style single-elimination heads-up tournament. Whichever player wins six matches in a row will take home $500,000.

This stop on the annual tournament calendar was new in 2005. Over the next six years it became a pro and fan favorite.

There has never been a two-time champion of this event. Previous winners include Phil Hellmuth (2005), Ted Forrest (2006), Paul Wasicka (2007), Chris Ferguson (2008) and Huck Seed (2009). Each man is in the field again this year.

Last night NBC held a bracket draw party at PURE nightclub inside Caesars. The event was hosted by the now-standard pairing of Leann Tweeden and Ali Nejad. Tweeden and Nejad will both be on hand for the next three days to announce the action directly from the tournament floor.

Play kicks off at 1:30 p.m. local time, in about three hours. If you're local to Las Vegas, come join us on set. Otherwise keep your browser pointed right here for what is sure to be an entertaining three days!
