Riess Out

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

"I would appreciate a fold," said Ryan Riess with a grin. "Or you can call... it's up to you."

His words were directed toward John Chapman, who was contemplating those two options across the table. The board read {3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades}. With about 55,000 in the middle, Riess was all in for about 30,000 and Chapman — who didn't have a lot more than that — was trying to decide was to do.

Finally Chapman called, and Riess showed his {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for two pair. Chapman had {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for both a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw, and Riess immediately acknowledged that the call was worth making. The river then brought the {2-Spades} to complete a straight for Chapman, and Riess shook Chapman's hand before departing.
