Deshpande Eliminated

Pradeep Deshpande
Pradeep Deshpande

Not long after that clash with Micah Raskin, Chris Klodnicki was back at it with a minimum raise to 8,000 from middle position. It folded to Pradeep Deshpande in the small blind who reraised all in for 57,900, and when the action got back to Klodnicki he called.

Deshpande: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Klodnicki: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} to swing the advantage to Klodnicki. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and the river the {3-Diamonds}, and Deshpande — in for four entries in this event — saw his tourney run come a few spots shy of cashing.

There are 24 players left.

Raskin and Klodnicki Clash

Micah Raskin with a first pump
Micah Raskin with a first pump

We just saw what potentially might have been a big hand between a couple of the big stacks, Chris Klodnicki (end of Day 1a leader) and Micah Raskin (end of Day 1b leader), although the pair ultimately avoided exchanging too many chips.

The hand began with Raskin opening for 10,000 from the hijack seat, then Klodnicki reraised to 25,000 from the button. It folded back around and Raskin held his cards for a moment as though he might pitch them, then began to dig out some chips. Finally he reraised again to just 40,000 total, and after some thought Klodnicki called.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}, and Raskin led for 30,000. Klodnicki then raised to 80,000, and Raskin quickly called. The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, pairing the board, and both players checked. They checked again following the {2-Diamonds} river.

Raskin turned over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Klodnicki slowly pushed his cards face down toward the dealer.

Burnitz Eliminates Pahuja

Vinny Pahuja - eliminated
Vinny Pahuja - eliminated

Matthew Burnitz limped in from middle position and Vinny Pahuja raised from the next seat over. The rest of the table folded back to Burnitz who put in a re-raise. Pahuja came back over the top with a re-raise of his own before Burnitz shoved with a covering stack. Pahuja called all in for about 110,000 with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, but trailed Burnitz's {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

It was all but over on the flop when it fell {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to give Burnitz top set. The {10-Diamonds} turn and {4-Diamonds} river officially ended Pahuja's run.

25 players remain.

DiMinno Down, Konisberg Knocked Out

Richard Allen opened with a raise to 8,000 from middle position, and when it folded around to Paul DiMinno he shoved for around 80,000. Allen was quick with the call, showing {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}, while DiMinno had {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

The board came {J-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, and DiMinno is out.

A short-stacked David Konigsberg was eliminated shortly thereafter by Edward Pham at the same table, and they are down to 26.
