Hand 9 Annie Duke Takes Down a Pot

Annie Duke
Annie Duke
Macel Luske finds {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} but limps under the gun.
Kravchenko calls on the button with {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.
Coren folds in the small blind and Duke checks in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Flop {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and Duke bets 4,000 which is called in both spots.

Turn is the {6-Hearts} and Duke now with two pair and a flush draw checks, Luske checks and Kravchenko, trying to get a feel for where he is in the hand asks, "Who has the better kicker?"

Kravchenko checks behind.

River is the {K-Diamonds}. Duke bets 12,000 and both Luske and the Russian fold.

Hand 10

Alex Kravchenko limped in from the cut-off with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Vicky Coren raised from the small blind holding {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Kravchenko called and checked dark.

Flop: {K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Vicky bet 11,000 and Alex made the call.

Turn: {A-Spades}
Both players checked.

River: {8-Clubs}
Kravchenko bet 18,000 and Coren paid it off.

Hand 11

Eddy Scharf
Eddy Scharf
It's passed around to Luske in the small blind, who completes with {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Scharf decided not to raise from the big blind with {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Flop {4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and both players check.
Turn is the {3-Diamonds} and again no one bets.
River is the {2-Hearts} and a well-disguised flush for Scharf.

A 2,000 bet from Luske is raised to 10,000 by the German and Luske calls.

"I call to keep you honest."

Hand 14: Duke Eliminated, Playoff Bound

Annie Duke will be in the playoffs
Annie Duke will be in the playoffs
Kravchenko raised to 5,000 from the button with {K-Spades}{9-Spades} but Annie Duke came over the top for 17,000, holding just {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} in the big blind. Kravchenko made the call.

Flop: {3-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Duke was first to the pot, moving all in for 79,000 and Kravchenko made the call - he began the hand with 33,000 more than Duke.

Duke: "The percentages on screen right now says 50/50."
She is spot on.

Turn: {A-Diamonds}
River: {Q-Diamonds}

Duke is eliminated with one point, finishing the league with 19 points.

Although currently in fourth place and ahead of Kravchenko and Scharf (who both have 17 points), Duke will only make a playoff spot as Kravchenko and Scharf are guaranteed at least two points from this heat.

This result also means that Devilfish is now unable to make the top four.

Hand 18: Coren Gives up in a Key Hand

Marcel Luske raises in first position to 8,000 with {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Alex Kravchenko calls in the small blind with {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Vicky Coren reraises from the big blind to 25,000 with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

Luske passes and Kravchenko moves all in.

Coren faces a call for her remaining 43,000 and dwells for quite some time before folding, obviously hoping that she she can finish one place ahead of Eddy Scharf.

If she had studied the league points carefully however she would have realised that finishing ahead of Scharf wouldn't really have made a big difference to her league standing and she needed to go for a top-two finish.

Roland de Wolfe in the commentary box: "That could have been the biggest tactical error so far in the Premier League, except for Hellmuth turning up."
