Render Makes Early Progress

Level 13 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

There was a raise to 16,000 from a player in early-position and both Keith Johnson, on the button, and Lauren Render, in the big blind, called.

On the {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} flop, Render led for 20,000 which got her first opponent to fold but Johnson called.

Render then check-called Johnson's 45,000 bet on the {9-Diamonds} turn and the action went check-check after the {4-Hearts} river was revealed. Render tabled {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair and Johnson mucked.

Girl Power

Level 13 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante
Maria Lampropulos
Maria Lampropulos

Such is the size of the Day 2 field here in the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event, there were half a dozen or so tables out in the marquee, which are slowly being broken into the main room.

One of the most recent tables to break contained former MILLIONS UK winner Maria Lampropulos. As she left the marquee she was stopped by Emma Tolley, also still in the Main Event.

"I just wanted to congratulate you on your recent successes," said Tolley, and the ever-gracious Lampropulos thanked her.

It just serves as a reminder of how much of an effect Lampropulos and her wins here at Dusk Till Dawn and more recently at the PCA are having on women's poker and poker in general.

Tom Hall Eliminated Early

Level 13 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

Tom Hall raised to 16,000 from under the gun position and when the action folded round to the player in the small blind he moved all in. Jack O'Neill has sat in the big blind and after peaking at his cards cold four-bet all in for around 260,000. Hall contemplated his decision before throwing a chip into the middle to signal a call.

Tom Hall: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Jack O'Neill: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Small Blind player: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Board: {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {a-Hearts}

The ace on the river was enough for O'Neill to win a huge pot early on and send two players to the rail including Hall.

Hemming into Chip Lead After Stellar Start

Level 13 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

Thomas Hemming has had a rocket of a start to his Day 2 campaign, eliminating Konstantinos Tzimas in two hands.

According to partypoker Sponsored Pro Natalia Breviglieri, Hemming opened from under the gun on the very first hand, with Tzimas calling, as well as the big blind.

The flop came {j-}{5-}{2-} with two clubs. The big blind checked and Hemming bet 35,000. Tzimas called and the big blind folded.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Hemming bet 85,000. Tzimas moved all in and Hemming tanked for ages before calling. Tzimas showed {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush but Hemming held {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush. The river was a brick and Hemming chipped up.

Then, Hemming finished Tzimas off with {k-}{k-} against Tzimas's {10-}{10-}.
