Stelmak Takes One from Buchanan

From middle position, Shawn Buchanan raised to 8,000. Greg Raymer called from the cutoff seat and then Dmitry Stelmak called from the button.

The three players saw a flop of {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and action checked to Stelmak. He fired 12,000. Only Buchanan made the call to go to fourth street.

The turn card was the {K-Hearts} and Buchanan checked. Stelmak fired 31,000 and Buchanan folded, slipping down to 160,000. Stelmak increased to 295,000.

Minieri Shows His Hand

Adolfo Vaeza limped in and Dario Minieri checked his option in the big blind. The two players saw a flop of {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Spades} and Minieri led for 4,000. Vaeza called.

The turn card was the {6-Hearts} and Minieri bet 14,500. Vaeza called again.

The river card was the {2-Clubs} and Minieri fired 21,500. Vaeza folded and Minieri showed the {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts}.

Vaeza Dominating

Under the gun, Dario Minieri raised to 7,100. His new nemesis Adolfa Vaeza popped it to 25,000 in the hijack, sending Bijan Zahmat on the button into the tank. After about a minute Zahmat moved all in, getting folds from the blinds and Minieri.

Vaeza called and revealed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}, having Zahmat's {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} in bad shape. The board fell {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Bijan Zahmat was sent to the rail in 22nd place.

Minieri Loses Half His Stack

Adolfa Vaeza just doubled through Dario Minieri for 212,300 chips to cut Minieri's stack in half. The board was {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} and Vaeza held {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. Minieri held {K-?} {7-?}. It was unknown when the money went in.

Vaeza began the day with under 100,000 in chips and now boasts a field-leading 445,000. Nice run to start the day.

Paul Berende Eliminated

Isaac Baron put in a raise from the cutoff and was called by Bijan Zahmat on the button. Paul Berende then re-raised to 22,000 from the small blind, getting folds from the big blind and Baron.

Wtih action back on Zahmat the ensuing action was unclear, but Berende would be all in for his tournament life with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against Zahmat's {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

The board rolled out {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, sending Berende to the rail and upping Zahmat's stack to 175,000.

Naujoks Jumps the Gun

From the button, Sandra Naujoks raised to 8,300. Nick Schulman called out of the big blind before the dealer dealt the first three community cards: {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs}.

Schulman checked to the preflop aggressor and Naujoks fired 9,000. Schulman made the call.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and action was on Schulman. He took a few moments with his decision. After a little while passed, Naujoks began reaching for chips and motioning to bet. Schulman chirped up to stop her and informed her that he had yet to act. She put the chips back in her stack and then another few moments went by before Schulman fired 20,000. Naujoks now tanked and eventually folded her hand, giving Schulman the pot.

Schulman moved up to 190,000 and Naujoks dropped to 197,000.
