That Damm Runner-Runner ...

Damm: busto
Damm: busto
Kenneth Damm has been eliminated from the 2009 PokerNews Cup Main Event at the hands of Joe Cabret.

With the flop reading {J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Damm moved the last of his short stack into the middle with {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, only to see Cabret call him down with {10-Spades}{8-Spades}.

The turn of the {A-Spades} saw Damm soar further in front with two pair but he wasn't happy with the flush draw possibilities. "That's not good," he cried as he put his hands over his face.

It wasn't good at all - the dealer produced the {K-Spades} on the river to give Cabret the flush and send Damm to the rail.

Cabret is now up to 45,000 after that hand.

Peter Aristidou Eliminated

We just caught Peter Aristidou as he was heading away from the table after being eliminated by Emad Tahtouh.

According to Aristidou he called a raise from Tahtouh preflop. He then check called the {8-?}{K-?}{10-?} flop and {k-?} turn for 1,600 and 2,500 chips respectively. The river was a brick and Aristidou check-called all in, when Tahtouh moved in.

Tahtouh tabled {8-?}{8-?} and Aristidou mucked his hand. Tahtouh moves up to about 46,000.

One Out of the Blue ...

PokerNews: your one-stop shop for all your needs
One of our "de facto" roles as PokerNews reporters is that of being the information desk for the players and the general public that walk on by. However had one person came up to us with a question that we've never come across before.

"Do you know where the break room is? It's my first day," said a Crown employee.

Luckily, PokerNews reporter blanklacholland used to work here as a croupier, so he was happy to point him in the right direction!

Botta Takes A Pot (Sort Of)

Botta has beer, Bouya!
Botta has beer, Bouya!
You can get it bettin', you can get it bluffin', you can get it any old how ... matter of fact, Daniel Botta's got one now.

Steve Bouya raised it up to 2,050 from early position and Botta called to go heads-up to a flop that read {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Bouya fired out 4,050; Botta reached for his pot (Aussie for "glass") of beer and mucked his cards.

Sachinidis Doubles Through

Sachinidis holds on
Sachinidis holds on
Jim Sachinidis has doubled back up to 11,000 in chips after managing to score some chips off Brent Thomas.

Thomas raised it up to 2,500 before the flop but Sachinidis pushed all in for 4,450. Thomas made the call.

Sachinidis: {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Thomas: {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Sachinidis stays alive.

Thomas, Nathan Being Bullied

An unknown opponent in early position raised it up to 2,400, only to see Rayan Nathan and Brent Thomas follow along to see three-way action into a flop that came down {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

The opponent checked to Nathan who opened for 4,000. Thomas folded but the opponent shoved all his stack into the middle. After considering his options for a short while, Nathan chose to lay it down.

As a result of that hand, Nathan is down to 64,000 and Thomas shrinks to 48,000.

Reza Vakili Out

Reza Vakili has been eliminated in a multi-way pot.

Preflop a short-stacked player moved all in from early position and Vakili and the player on the button both made the call. The flop came {10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Vakili pushed all in, with the button snap calling.

Early Position {A-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Button {K-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Vakili {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The board blanked off {9-Hearts} and {Q-Hearts} to triple the early position player, and eliminate Vakili.

Emad Calling For Non-Outs

Tahtouh couldn't be saved by the case king
Tahtouh couldn't be saved by the case king
Emad Tahtouh found his {K-Diamonds}{k-Spades} up against an all in Barry Clark with {A-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

He was looking good till the flop spiked {A-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. The turn brought an {A-Spades}.

"Case king, case king" called Tahtouh.

The {7-Spades} hit the river instead. As the pot was pushed to Clark, "Ozzie The Turk" stopped by the table and alerted to the fact that "You know the case king would have made him a bigger full house?".

"Yeah, thanks for that Ozzie" was the reply from a bemused Tahtouh.

Tatouh is down to 38,000. Clark is up to 42,000.
