Comer Doesn't Want Decent Starting Hands

Preflop a player in the cut-off limped and Martin Comer pumped it up to 375 from the small blind. It folded back to the cut-off who made the call and took a {j-?}{8-?}{k-?} rainbow flop.

Comer led out 1,000 and the player quickly raised to 2,000.

"How do you limp/call and then like that flop?" Comer tanked for a little while and mucked his hand.

"Ok, I don't want any good hands, just give me seven-deuce so I can fold" said Comer to the dealer.

Todor, Tino and Tony

In a limped pot, Todor Kondevski, Tino Lechich and Tony Dunst saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. Action checked to Dunst who fired 400 with Kondevski making the call as Lechich stepped aside.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and Kondevski check-called the 1,100 bet from Dunst as the {3-Spades} fell on the river. Both players checked and the cards were tabled.

Kondevski: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Dunst: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Aces and deuces with the queen kicker for both players - chop it up!

Heart-Attack For Cliff Lee

George Chrisanthopoulos opened under-the-gun with Cliff Lee raising from the cut-off. Chrisanthopoulos fired back to 5,500 and Lee moved all in. Chrisanthopoulos made the call and the players tabled their cards.

Chrisanthopoulos {Q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Lee {A-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Lee liked his chances until the {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop hit. He began to gather his things together and the {a-Diamonds} spiked to put him back out in front.

The river was the {10-Spades} to drop Chrisanthopoulos down to 10,000 in chips after he had started well. Cliff Lee does the reverse and moves up to 40,000 after starting slow.

"Sorry about the smell fellas but I think I crapped myself" said Lee as he stacked his chips.

Karamalikis Collects From Gowen

Clonie Gowen and Jonathan Karamalikis
Clonie Gowen and Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis and Clonie Gowen have been chatting away much to the envy of many of Karamalikis' buddies who seem intent on frequently wandering over to his table to "say hi".

This hasn't interrupted the mojo of Karamalikis as he just won a very healthy pot of our International visitor.

In a re-raised pot, the two took a flop of {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Spades} where Gowen checked to Karamalikis who fired 950. Gowen called and the turn brought the {3-Hearts}. Again Gowen check-called, this time for 2,200.

On the {9-Spades} Gowen checked for the third time and Karamalikis fired another barrel worth 4,700. Gowen tanked for several minutes before making the call, but Karamalikis tabled {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut flush.

Gowen mucked and slipped to 13,000 as Karamalikis is now up to 38,000 chips.

Chalk Up A Win For The Duck

The Duck in action
The Duck in action
Tim Duckworth has got off the mark for the day. Four players took a {3-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop for 300 apiece and Duckworth was straight out of the blocks leading 600.

He took one caller to the turn {2-Hearts} and bet out 750, which was called. The river was the {A-Spades} and Duckworth fired 1,750. His opponent instantly pitched into the muck and Duckworth revealed {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

After the hand our PokerNews reporter was heard lamenting, "How does he not have the Spades there?"

Duckworth has about 18,500.

Lunardi Takes One From Botta

Kristian Lunardi
Kristian Lunardi
Kristian Lunardi has just collided a nice pot to chip himself up at the expense of Daniel Botta.

Both players have trophies in their cabinet from success on the Crown Poker Room felt this year, but this time it was Lunardi who took the pot.

Botta opened to 350 from middle position, before Lunardi made it 1,050 to go. The table folded around and Botta made the call to see a {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop.

Botta checked, Lunardi fired 1,500 and Botta made the call. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and Botta checked and Lunardi released a second bullet worth 3,500. The heat was too much for Botta as he let his hand go.

Lunardi chips up to 28,000 with Botta back to 19,000.

Duck's On Fire

Tim Duckworth in action
Tim Duckworth in action
Tim Duckworth is the early chip leader after making a hot start to the day.

Firstly, Michael Zowie opened and three players including Duckworth made the call to go to the {Q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop.

On the flop Zowie checked and Duckworth took the lead betting 800. The other opponent raised it up to 1,600, bringing a fold from both Zowie and the other opponent in the hand. Duckworth made the call and they went heads up to the {k-Clubs} turn.

Duckworth checked to the opponent who led an overbet of 7,000. Duckworth moved all in and the opponent made the call. The opponent tabled {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for trip Kings, but Duckworth had {K-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a full-house leaving his opponent drawing dead to a chop.

That moved Duckworth up to 33,950.

A few hands later he went six-handed to a {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop after raising to 250 from early position. The player in the big blind made it 1,300 and Duckworth raised to 4,500. It folded round to the big blind who made it 12,000 virtually putting himself all in. Duckworth raised the extra 2,500 to put the big blind in and they tabled their cards.

Duckworth: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Duckworth had both the up and down straight draw and a flush draw. He hit both through the {3-Diamonds} turn and {10-Hearts} river.

Duckworth moves up to 52,500.
