Vakili's Great Call Goes Unrewarded

Sometimes making a great call is only half the battle, as you need to also survive Lady Luck to rake in the chips. This is something that Reza Vakili knows all too well following this recent hand.

Catching the action on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and with around 14,000 in the middle, a player on the button moved all in for around 11,500. Vakili delberated for several minutes before deciding to make a big call.

Vakili: {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Button: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

It was a huge call by Vakili as his bottom pair was enough for the lead over his opponent's ace-high.

That's when disaster struck...

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and river the {6-Hearts} and suddenly Vakili's pair had been counterfeited and the ace kicker of his opponent played! A cruel blow to a great call, leaves Vakili with his starting stack of 20,000 chips.
