The G Doubles

Tony G
Tony G
The man who is the name behind this very event, Tony G, has just found a very nice double up at the expense of Milan Gurung.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} and the bet of Gurung was met with an all-in shove from the "G". Gurung made the call with his {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} but trails Guoga's {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and river the {K-Hearts} and Guoga doubles up to 43,000, leaving Gurung on 32,000.

"I'm going for a walk, I have too many chips!" laughed Guoga.

Sucks To Be A Bounty

Kenneth Damm eliminated
Kenneth Damm eliminated
There will be no successful title defence for Kenneth Damm.

He's just been eliminated by an opponent who called his 4,000 chip all-in with {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Damm was hoping his {9-?}{9-?} would hold up, but alas he was disappointed.

The {8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} put his opponent in front and he didn't look back with the {a-Clubs} hitting the turn and the {5-Spades} completing the board on the river.

Damm took the beat well, but Peter Aristidou went into bat for the international visitor.

"You don't make that call if he isn't a bounty" said Aristidou matter-of-factly.

The young player who eliminated Damm took exception retorting "It had nothing to do with him being a bounty" as he gladly claimed his bounty prize.

Guzzardi 2, Pedley 0

Michael Pedley has been dented in a huge clash with Michael Guzzardi before being eliminated soon after.

Guzzardi was able to double up after moving all in for his last 5,500 on the river on a board of {10-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Pedley looked him up but mucked when Guzzardi flipped {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Pedley was crippled and all in dark a few minutes later. He found three callers before Guzzardi raised it up to 3,000. Two players folded before Andrew Jeffreys also made a reluctant fold. Jeffreys then cringed when Guzzardi opened up a marginal {A-Spades}{3-Spades} to be ahead of Pedley's {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. An ace in the window was enough to end the run of Pedley as Guzzardi continues to build an impressive stack.

Red Hot Savage

Ben Savage
Ben Savage
Ben Savage called the all-in shove of a short-stacked player preflop and was happy to gamble with his {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} as his opponent flipped over {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

However it was looking grim for Savage when the first four cards landed {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Savage picked up a heart draw but instead spiked the {2-Clubs} on the river for a full house to take the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Fresh of his trophy win in the PokerNetwork.com Live vs Online Challenge from earlier in the day, Savage is now gaining momentum with 13,000 chips.

Aristidou Downs Damm

Peter Aristidou has just doubled through courtesy of Kenneth Damm.

In a preflop confrontation Aristidou had {A-?}{q-?} up against Damm's {J-?}{j-?}.

The flop was kind to the Australian coming {2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The board ran out {4-Spades} turn and {10-Spades} river to drop Damm to just 4,000 chips.

Aristidou has firmed over 16,000.

Gelberg and Demetriou Can't Get Past The Nuts

Sherrie Gelberg and Andrew Demetriou have both been eliminated in the same hand under different situations. The short-stacked Demetriou was all in preflop with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} while Gelberg moved all in at the flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} with her pocket sevens.

Unfortunately for both their opponent was happy to call with his {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} as he flopped the mortal nuts! The turn was the {4-Hearts} and river the {2-Hearts} to send both Gelberg and Demetriou to the exit.

Benson Busts

Gary Benson Eliminated
Gary Benson Eliminated
Raemin Alexander raised to 1,600 from early position with Gary Benson flat calling in middle position. The two took a heads-up flop of {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} where Alexander fired 3,500. Benson announced he was all in for around 8,000 with Alexander making the call.

Benson: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Alexander: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} to give Alexander the gutshot straight that he needed as the river blanked the {5-Diamonds}.

Australian Hall of Fame member Gary Benson was sent to the rail as Alexander now sits behind 28,000 chips.

Matthew Kirk Still Chipping Up

Matthew Kirk has been a bit of a ghost on the tournament scene of late preferring to stay away from the "donkaments" in favour of the big cash games.

He's in the field tonight and going ok, he just eliminated a player in an {A-Hearts}{k-Hearts} v {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} race.

The {3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} board favoured Kirk.

A few hands later he called a short-stack's all in with {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. The all-in player looked good to double through with his {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} until the board came {A-Spades}{q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

Kirk now has 24,000.
