Day 1 Concludes With "NUTZBOT" On Top
A field of 1,627 took part in this year's World Championship of Online Poker Main Event at PokerStars, generating a total prize pool of $8,135,000. After 22 levels of play on Day 1, only 176 are left vying for the $1,646,300 first-place prize. Leading the way with a stack of 649,769 is "NUTZBOT", but there's still plenty of work to be done.
Still in the field for Team PokerStars are Eugene Katchalov (273,015), Matthias "mattidm" De Meulder (254,378), Johnny Lodden (231,518), Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen (177,253), and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (42,426). Amazingly, but hardly surprising, Katchlov will also be returning in the $10,000 8-Game High Roller event tomorrow heads-up. Can Katchalov capture not one, but two WCOOP bracelets tomorrow?
Play resumes at 2pm ET tomorrow and will play down until the next WCOOP Main Event Champion is crowned. Thanks for following along with us today and be sure to be back here at PokerNews tomorrow for all of the exciting Day 2 action.
