Layne Leaves Hale Empty Handed

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Kevin Hale went all in from the small blind, and Tim Layne made the call from the big blind. Hale's tournament life was at risk going to the showdown.

Kevin Hale: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Tim Layne: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Board: {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Hale was one card away from the double up, but the river {k-Clubs} gave Layne top pair, and sent Hale to the exit.

Full Gambit of Emotions for Anderson

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

John Gribben opened to 3,500 from the hijack, Kyle Anderson three-bet to 10,500, and Gribben called.

The flop came {7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and Gribben checked. Anderson bet 13,000, Gribben raised all in, and Anderson snap called.

Anderson was visibly upset, however, when the cards turned over.

Kyle Anderson: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
John Gribben: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

On the brink of elimination, Anderson's next expression was a hand slammed on the table, but the move was done in elation. The change in attitude came as the result of the {k-Hearts} hitting the board, which now put Anderson ahead with kings full against Gribben's sevens full.

Gribben had just one out to draw to, and it didn't come as the {q-Hearts} was the river card.

The hand doubled Anderson up to 135,000, while Gribben moved down to 60,000.

Gir's Queens Send Opponent Packing

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Chance Gir continues to stay in the upper echelon of the chip counts, adding more chips to his stack in a recent blind versus blind hand.

Preflop action folded around to the small blind, who went all in preflop. Gir made the call.

Small Blind: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Chance Gir: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Board: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop left the small blind drawing virtually dead, and Gir took in yet another pot.

Saklad KOs Cappucci

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The all-time leader in wins at Run It Up Reno is out of the Main Event, for now.

Jimmy Cappucci went all in preflop from middle position, and Andrew Saklad called in the small blind, having Cappucci covered.

Jimmy Cappucci: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Andrew Saklad: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Board: {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Cappucci dodged elimination through the turn, but the river king brought in broadway for Saklad and sent Cappucci to the rail.

With late registration over for Day 1a, a second-bullet attempt for Cappucci will have to wait until Day 1b.

The $235 Black Chip Bounty at Run It Up IX saw Jimmy Cappucci take down the one-day tournament (310 entries)t for $5,950.

The heads-up battle pitted Cappucci, the all-time wins leader in the Run It Up series with six victories coming into the tournament, against Chris Lindner, who was just two days removed from a runner-up finish in the $440 Mini Main Event. The final hand came down to Cappucci's king-ten offsuit getting the best of Lindner's king-nine suited.

“The real dream is just running really well, battling, hoping for the best, causing pain to others,” said Cappucci.

Cappucci said he won 12 or 13 $100 bounties in addition to the first-place prize money. The win is Cappucci’s seventh in Run It Up Reno events.

“The series is great. Everybody here is amazing," Cappucci said. "Even if I came here and lost every single dollar I had every time, I’d be back every single time to do it again. It’s such a great time. If you’ve never been here before, get down here. It’s just too much fun.”

Lindner scored $3,830 for his second runner-up finish of this series. Third-place finisher Deb Swift, another regular at Run It Up Reno events, took home $2,660.
