Lombard Dispatches Luu

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Toko Luu
Toko Luu

Anthony Lombard raised to 28,000 from the hijack and Toko Luu moved all in for 39,000 from the small blind. Tim Tucker called from the big blind, Lombard put in the additional 11,000, and the flop came down {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

Tucker check-called a bet of 40,000 and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Hearts}.

Tucker checked for the second time and folded when Lombard bet 90,000.

Lombard: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Luu: {q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Lombard was ahead with two pair but Luu had both a flush and gutshot straight draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {q-Diamonds} river, which sent Luu to the rail in 23rd place for $2,755.

"Come on!"

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Tim Tucker raised to 62,000 from the lojack, and Alex Epstein three-bet to 180,000 from the cutoff. Tucker four-bet jammed for 536,000, and Epstein snapped him off.

Tucker: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Epstein: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

"Spades!" Tucker said, but the {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop was good enough, giving him a pair of eights and leading a distraught Epstein to yell, "Come on!"

The {9-Diamonds} turn was a brick for Epstein, and he repeated, "Come on!" twice more after the {9-Spades} river left Tucker with a full house and a big double.

Start-of-the-Day Chip Leader Done in by Quad Queens

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Patrick Truong
Patrick Truong

Andy Camou raised to 27,000 from middle position and Austin Roberts called from the button. Day 1a chip leader Patrick Truong, who started the day on the big stack, proceeded to three-bet all in for 168,000 from the big blind and Camou isolated by moving all in over the top for 777,000. Roberts got out of the way and Truong discovered the bad news.

Camou: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Truong: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

The {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop gave both players a set, but of course, Camou's was best. The {q-Hearts} turn improved him to quads and he sent Truong to the payout desk in 27th place to collect a $2,215 prize.

Lombard Survives On The River

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Alex Epstein raised to 60,000 on the button, and Anthony Lombard jammed for 122,000 in the small blind. Steve Roselius, who had a similar stack, folded in the big blind, and Epstein grimaced, then put in a call.

Epstein: {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Lombard: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Epstein pulled in front on the {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, and just needed to fade a king or queen after the {8-Hearts} fell on the turn. No such luck, though, as the {k-Clubs} river gave Lombard a pair of kings and the double.
