Andrew Fredericks Leads Final 5 of Day 1b; Berger Advances

Andrew Fredericks

The second of four flights came to its conclusion in The Rungood Poker Series $600 Main Event at Atlantis Casino in Reno, Nevada. A total of 43 players registered this flight in the hopes that they could snag a piece of the $150,000 guaranteed prize pool, only five of them advancing up.

At the top of the pack is Andrew Fredericks who ended the day with 454,000. The chip lead fluctuated greatly at the end of the night, with the seven-handed portion of play lasting well over two hours. The final coinflip of the night saw Fredericks take a comfortable lead over the rest of his flight and he secured his first RGPS cash.

Teng Vang finished second in chips at 262,000. With $220,840 in lifetime earnings, he looks to use his wealth of tournament experience to aid him into Day 2. Jeffrey Day bagged just short of him with 261,000, possessing a similar Hendon Mob at $222,031 in lifetime earnings. With 6 RGPS cashes to his name, he looks to make his most recent cash his best one as he looks to add some jewelry to his resume. Andy Joros found his first RGPS cash with his bag of 185,000, making it through despite quite a few big pots not going his way.

The final player to make it through the day was defending champion Stacey Berger, who ended the day with 128,000 in her quest to go back to back. The only RGPS Main Event champion to survive thus far, with the potential to become the third back to back Main Event champion. A list that includes Derrick Plumage and Derrick Yamada.

Not all players could find the good fortune of these five. Lindsey Kludt, Bob Mather, and Tyler Patterson were among the casualties of this flight. Daniel “Donk” Hughes became the unfortunate bubble boy as his threes were unable to hold against Frederick’s ace-jack. Two flights remain for these players and others to snag a bag for Day 2.

Play ended on the final hand of Level 15 in flight 1a, meaning that players will return to Level 16 with blinds at 5,000/10,000 with a 10,000 big blind ante, unless one of the following flights ends earlier than this one.
