McCormick Wins Pot Before Break

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Brian McCormick raised to 75,000 from his button and Andy Spears three-bet to 185,000. McCormick called and the two took in a diamond-filled flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Spears checked and McCormick fired 140,000. Spears called and the {2-Spades} hit the felt on the turn. Two checks allowed the {7-Diamonds} to finish off the board.

Spears checked again and McCormick announced an all in bet. Spears folded and McCormick dragged in the pot.

McCormick Doubles

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

After several small pots where Andy Spears wore down Brian McCormick's stack, McCormick was able to win a large confrontation to double back and keep the match going.

During the hand in question, Spears opened his button to 65,000 and McCormick called. The flop came {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and McCormick check-called 60,000. The {3-Diamonds} turned and both players checked to see a second trey hit the river with the {3-Hearts}. McCormick led out for 170,000 and Spears raised him to 415,000 total.

"All in," announced McCormick, which produced a wince from Spears.

"Pull it in," he said to the dealer with a sigh. "Why did I do it? I'm such an idiot."

The dealer pulled in the bets and announced that McCormick was all in for 485,000 more or 900,000 total. Spears called but then mucked his hand after McCormick showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for nines full of treys.

Spears: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
McCormick: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Spears needed to come from behind to stay alive, and the {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} sent him into the lead with a pair of nines. The {5-Spades} and {J-Hearts} completed the board, and Spears is on top once again.
