The Pace Quickens

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Bruce Pace
Bruce Pace

A notorious single-geared chip collector with a habit of blowing big stacks late in events here at Seneca, Bruce Pace appears to be at it again.

He made it 700 preflop and got the call from John Stempien behind him before the big blind shoved short for 125 more. Pace tried to raise, but was quickly told he couldn't before he and Stempien called.

The flop fell {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Pace led for 2,000 on the side. Stempein stuck around and the turn came the {k-Hearts}. This time Pace bet 3,000, but the sticky Stempien would not fold. The river came the {4-Hearts} and Pace fired again, this time for 5,000.

Stempien called, but joined the big blind in mucking when Pace showed the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

[Removed:340] Shows Two The Door

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Local standout [Removed:339] is off to a hot start here as Day 1b closes in on the halfway mark.

He found pocket aces and a double knockout when one player shoved short with [qx10cx] and another followed suit with {k-}{k-} in front of him.

As a result, [Removed:340] can now claim the chip lead.

Mackiewicz Leads!

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Kristan Mackiewicz
Kristan Mackiewicz

Kristan Mackiewicz just knocked out two players and now finds herself atop the chip counts.

This included John Stempien, who got it in on the first hand of his second bullet after flopping top pair tens with the {k-}{10-}. Mackiewicz held jacks and they held.

A few hands later she made top pair tens with the {a-}{10-} and got it in against a straight draw that failed to materialize.

Napierala Survives

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Blake Napierala, who dominates most of the tournament series run here at Seneca, is off to a slow start in his effort to crush the 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic.

He got short, and faced with a 1,500-chip bet from the cutoff, got it in for a little over 5,000 from the button with the {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The cutoff called with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, but could not bust the ever-dangerous Napierala, who held on a {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} run out.

Brian Bordinaro
Brian Bordinaro

After jumping out to an early lead, Brian Bordinaro was headed in the wrong direction before Bruce Pace came along.

Pace decided to get the last of his own dwindling stack in with {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs} on a {a-}{7-Diamonds}{X-Diamonds} flop. Bordinaro held the {a-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and was only too happy to call and get healthy again when the river came another diamond.
