Raimondi Rides Again

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Peter Raimondi
Peter Raimondi

Peter Raimondi told PokerNews that he's been taking a little break from poker and actually, outside of one home game with friends, hasn't played since this past August.

Raimondi says he believes time away from the game can be productive and a good way of making sure a player is focused when they return to the felt.

Back at it for the first time in three months, this off the felt strategy appears to be paying dividends for Raimondi as he looks razor sharp and has the lead heading into the day's second break.

Ciffa Cracks One

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Joe Ciffa
Joe Ciffa

Two-time 2014 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam titlist Joe Ciffa just did the dirty, cracking one opponent's aces on the way to building a contending stack deep into Level 8.

He flopped two pair with the {4-}{5-} and the money went in. Ciffa turned a boat for good measure and the aces never improved on the way out the door.

Tighe Goes South; Moravec Peaking

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Jason Moravec
Jason Moravec

Suddenly peaking is Buffalo, NY native Jason Moravec, who took most of Pat Tighe's big chips when he made tens full on the river against him.

No saying what the mucking Tighe had, except a lot less chips after the hand. He ran out of those almost as quickly and soon headed to the cage to reenter with Moravec taking his former spot among the leaders.

John Grace
John Grace

2015 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Main Event final table participant John Grace has built himself up to a spot near the top of the counts this evening from a table in the back of the poker room.

The big hand that vaulted him up the counts involved him getting it in three ways with queens over tens over eights. By the grace of the poker gods, Grace held and is now pushing 80,000.

Crazy Chop Makes Up For Miller Mistake

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

In one oddball hand, James Miller put out 2,700 preflop and announced a 27,000-chip raise.

Since verbal is binding, he was forced to put out the 27,000. A few seats over, Alan Marie woke up with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and tank-shoved for some 4,000 more.

Miller shrugged and called with the {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

The flop rolled out {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} giving them both a pair. The turn came the {5-Clubs} giving Miller a club draw and finally, the river was the {2-Hearts}, giving them both a wheel and chopping the pot.

Then a Hero Comes Along

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Rob Gerstenzang
Rob Gerstenzang

Otto, NY's Rob Gerstenzang made a huge hero call with {6-}{4-} on a {j-}{4-}{10-}{9-}{q-} board and was right, his all in opponent held a busted flush draw.

Add that to the hand where he made a set of fives and got paid off and he's got a contending stack right now.
