John Stempien Takes the Lead With Ace-High

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

John Stempien explained how he jumped into the chip lead in an exciting, multi-way pot.

There was an all-in and Stempien and another player called. The flop came king-high, and he said he suspected the player on the side had air so he led out for 20,000 and called his all in for 40,000 more.

It turns out his read was dead on because the first player who was all in held ace-jack, and the player on the side tabled ace-ten for a flush draw.

The board ran out dry, and ace-queen took down the entire pot. Stempien is now the chip leader with Jerry "Pokerwinski" close behind in second.

Jerry Jumps to the Top

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jerry "Pokerwinski", as he likes to go by, has jumped to the top of the standings in this flight and is the first player to reach the 200,000 chip mark.

The hand that got him there was {a-}{8-} where he got his money in the middle against a player holding {a-}{q-} on an ace-high board. The turn was a miraculous eight and "Pokerwinski" sent his opponent packing.

With just a few levels left in the night, look for "Pokerwinski" to end the night near the top.

Perfect Pot for Pete

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a board reading {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}, with about 23,000 in the pot already, Pete Pilski checked, as did the player in middle position.

The player on the button went all in for his remaining 18,400. Pilski was next to act and also moved all in over top for 55,000. The final player in the hand had a decision to make, and in agony he yelled, "I fold!" and tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for the nut flush draw.

"You're crushed," said Pilski, as he tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for middle set. The player on the button groaned and tabled {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for bottom set and said, "I knew it. That's just my luck."

The turn was the {a-Hearts} and the river was the {10-Diamonds}, sending the pot Pilski's way and eliminating his opponent in the process.

Aaron Olshan Flips For It

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Billy Lee raised to 2,400 from the cutoff, and the player on the button moved all in for his remaining 20,000.

Aaron Olshan was in the big blind and moved all in over top for 32,700. Lee folded, and the hands were tabled.

Olshan revealed {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and his opponent showed {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a classic race.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, putting Olshan in the lead with top two pair.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, and the river was the {a-Spades}, giving Olshan aces full of kings. Olshan raked in the pot and sent his opponent to the rail.
