McDowell's Two Bullets are Better than One

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Matthew McDowell
Matthew McDowell

Matthew Mcdowell rasied in middle position to 800 and two players called before action came to Henok Melaku in the small blind. Melaku decided to shove all his chips in the middle for 7,500.

McDowell called and the other players all folded.

Melaku revealed his {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but was in trouble when McDowell showed his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

The board showed no trouble for Mcdowell and Melaku was eliminated.

"Alright, that's enough," said one of McDowell's tablemates as he smiles and added to his growing chip stack.

The board read {9-}{5-}{2-}{k-}{7-} on the river and Hanson Henry led into the pot of about 10,000 with a 4,200 chip bet.

"All in," announced Whittington with a bet that totaled 24,100.

Henry thought for a bit as Whittington remained stoic. Eventually, Henry released his cards and Whittington happily raked the pot.

Galloway Hangs on Against Owen's Check-Raise

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

James Galloway had called a preflop raise of 1,000 from an early position player and saw two other players do the same, including Brad Owen in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and action checked to Galloway. He put out a bet of 3,200 and action folded to Owen who elected to check-raise to 10,000. Only Galloway called.

The turn came the {q-Clubs} and action went check-check. The river was a blank and both players quickly checked again.

"Two-pair," announced Galloway as he showed his {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

"Me too," announced Owen, who mucked and took an early hit to his stack.

Galloway's Flopped Set Earns a Big Pot

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Action picked up on the turn with three players looking at a board of {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Two players checked to Joon Park who had bet 7,000 into a pot of about 25,000. Mirza Nagji decided to call in the small blind before James Galloway check-raised all in for about 24,000.

After some thinking, Park decided to shove as well, and Nagji let his cards go.

"You didn't snap call, I feel much better about my hand," said Galloway as he showed {2-}{2-} for bottom set.

"Way good," said Park as he showed {j-}{j-} for the over-pair. "Didn't think you'd play a set that way."

"Just glad I don't have to fade clubs," said Galloway, as the board ran out {8-}{8-} to secure the victory.
