Boxcars for Eyster

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

Action folded to Kevin Eyster on the button and he open-shoved for 22,200. The player in the small blind folded, but the one in the big made a quick call.

Eyster: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Eyster was looking to dodge a five, and he did just that as the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Ship the double to Eyster.

Fielder's Chips Chopped Up

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We saw Jeff Fielder's seat was open, and a quick check with Phil Mader confirmed that he had been eliminated.

According to Mader, a player raised, David Gutfreund flatted, and Fielder shoved all in for 24,400. Another player moved all in over the top, the original raiser folded, and Gutfreund called.

Gutfreund: {a-}{q-}
Fielder: {k-}{j-}
Third Player: {a-}{k-}

The board ran out {6-}{6-}{5-}{5-}{2-} and Gutfreund and the other player chopped up Fielder's chips.

While Fielder's Day 1b run came to an end, he isn't done with poker yet as he's opted to jump into the Turbo Main Event satellite.

Keeline on Fire; Eliminates McGown

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Ben Keeline
Ben Keeline

After a player limped, Rick McGown, who was working with a big stack most of the day, raised to 10,000 and cleared the field to Ben Keeline, who three-bet to 34,000 from the big blind. The limper folded, McGown called, and it was heads-up action to the {q-}{6-}{3-} flop.

Keeline checked, McGown shoved all in for 56,000, and Keeline snap-called.

Keeline: {q-}{q-}
McGown: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

McGown picked a bad spot, and he was eliminated from the tournament after the turn and river both bricked. That pot took Keeline to 175,000, but he scored another elimination mere minutes later to vault up to 240,000!

"I Got Lucky, Man"

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Kevin Eyster raised to 2,400 from early position and Nathan Finger defended from the big blind to see a {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop, which they both checked. When the {3-Spades} appeared on the turn, Finger bet 3,500, Eyster called, and the {K-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Finger bet again, this time 12,000, and Eyster thought long and hard before making the call.

"I got lucky, man," Finger said before showing his {j-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a rivered straight. Eyster mucked his hand.

Carter Can't Cut Out the Middleman

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Bruce Carter opened for 3,300 and John Vitt called from the small blind. Dave Middleman then three-bet jammed for 13,200 total, Carter four-bet to 23,300, and Vitt got out of the way.

Middleman: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Carter: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Middleman was way out in front, and that's just where he stayed as the board ran out {3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

Devonshire Wins at Showdown Without a Showdown

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Bryan Devonshire opened for 2,700 from middle position and action folded to the player in the big blind, who opted to call. Both players checked the {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, as well as the {6-Spades} turn. When the {Q-Spades} completed the board on the river, the big blind led out for 3,000 and Devonshire made a quick call.

"You're good," the big blind said. He was obliged to show first, but instead he mucked his hand. With that, Devonshire was awarded the pot.

The Ladies Love Curl

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Tyler Corbett, who finished runner-up in this event back in March, opened for 3,000 from early position and Alan Curl, who was to his direct left, three-bet to 9,000. Action folded back to Corbett, and he called to see a {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop.

Corbett checked, Curl bet 10,000, and Corbett checked. Both players then checked the {J-Diamonds} turn, and Corbett bet 10,000 on the {7-Hearts} river. Curl called and Corbett tabled the {10-Spades}{k-Hearts}. It was no good though as Curl held an overpair with the {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Kessler: "I'm Afraid to Turn My Hand Over"

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

A short-stacked Allen Kessler open-shoved his last 10,000 from middle position and Bruce Carter called from the button. The blinds both folded and Carter tabled the {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

"I'm afraid to turn my hand over," Kessler said before revealing the {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

The {3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop was bad news for Kessler.

"Drawing dead on the flop," he muttered. Not quite true as he could catch running queens, but that didn't happen as the {K-Hearts} blanked on the turn followed by the {10-Spades} on the river.
