MSPT Team Pro Falls

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

MSPT Team Pro Matt Kirby was looking to join his teammates, Nick Pupillo and Matt Alexander, on Day 2, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Kirby recently busted after getting his stack all in preflop holding {j-}{j-} against the {q-}{q-} of Paul Hoch. The board ran out clean, and Kirby made his way to the registration desk to reenter. Unfortunately for him, that bullet missed the mark as he was quickly eliminated.

Baca vs. Serratos

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Before the break went up, Jose Serratos opened for 5,600 and Steve Baca called from the hijack. The rest of the players folded and it was heads-up action to the {9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Serratos check-called a bet of 8,800 and then checked the {q-Clubs} turn. Baca bet 14,000, and that did the trick as Serratos folded his hand.

Martie Sets Up Hassab

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Mike Hassab
Mike Hassab

With around 35,000 in the pot and a flop of {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Svetlana Martie checked and Mike Hassab bet 21,000. Martie then woke up with a check-raise to 46,000 and Hassab, who didn't have much more than that, hit the tank. Several minutes passed, during which time he asked Martie if she had a set.

She didn't answer, and after another minute Hassab moved all in for about 15,000 more. Martie called.

Martie: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Hassab: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Hassab's suspicions were correct, and he paid for it with his tournament life after the {2-Clubs} blanked on the turn followed by the {A-Clubs} on the river.

Corbett vs. Curl

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Tyler Corbett limped from the cutoff and MSPT Grand Falls champ Alan Curl raised to 7,000 from the button. Both blinds folded, Corbett called, and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Corbett check-called a bet of 11,000, and then both players checked the {Q-Spades} turn.

When the {9-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Corbett bet 15,000 and Curl quickly folded.

How Wilson Got His Big Stack

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We noticed James Wilson, who has been among the chip leaders all night, was sitting on a considerably larger stack, and he was kind enough to tell us how he got them.

According to him, Max Chrisp had raised from the cutoff and Wilson three-bet to 25,000 from the small blind. Chrisp made the call, and then both players checked the {q-}{9-}{6-} flop as well as the turn, which he said was a blank. The river was also a blank, and Wilson led out for 60,000 with pocket queens. Chrisp hit the tank, but eventually paid it off only to muck when Wilson rolled over his set.

Not long after, Wilson flopped jacks and eights against an opponent with jacks and an ace kicker. Running eights saw Wilson improve to quads and vault his stack to 475,000, which is ahead of the chip leaders from both the Day 1a and 1b flights.

Wild Hand Results in Lekarczyk Triple Up and Dillehay Elimination

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
A wild hand.
A wild hand.

In a limped preflop pot, action exploded on a {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop that saw Mitchell Lekarczyk get his short stack all in against two players. When the {K-Spades} appeared on the turn, Derek Dillehay got his stack in against Corey Zedo to create a side pot.

Zedo: {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Dillehay: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Lekarczyk: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Both Zedo and Dillehay had flopped full houses, but Dillehay's was second best. Meanwhile, Lekarczyk was behind with aces... that is until the {A-Spades} spiked on the river! Lekarczyk tripled with aces full, while Zedo eliminated Dillehay with sevens full.

Curl Continues to Slide

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With around 33,000 in the pot and a flop of {6-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}, Alan Curl checked from the big blind and Corey Zedo did the same from the button. When the {9-Clubs} appeared on the turn, Curl check-called a bet of 12,500 and then both players checked the {3-Clubs} river.

Curl showed the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for nut no pair, but it was no good as Zedo held a pair of sixes with the {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Serratos Looks to Break the Levy

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Action folded to WPT Ones to Watch Jose Serratos in the cutoff and he raised to 4,500. Julian Levy then three-bet to 15,000 from the small blind, Serratos called, and the flop came down {3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Levy fired out 19,000, and Serratos tanked for a bit before moving all in for 62,100. With the tables turned, it was Levy's turn to hit the tank, and after a couple of minutes ticked by, he released his hand.
