Day 1b of the 2019 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Michigan State Poker Championship at FireKeepers Casino has wrapped up. Today’s field saw 596 entrants which is a MSPT Firekeeper's record for a Day 1b flight. This brings the overall total to 918 with one starting day still remaining. 72 players found a bag today and they will join the 36 players who bagged on Day 1a.

Duston Newton was able to bag the biggest stack of the day and will take 448,000 chips into Day 2 on Sunday. Jeffrey Banghart (435,000), Lenard Pisano II (384,500), Mike Shanahan (371,500) and Perla Ojeda (364,500) complete the top five list for Day 1b.

Some other notables that put chips in the bag today include Ben Keeline (346,500), Nick Pupillo (287,500), Ralph Massey (187,500), Chris Moon (151,000), Blake Bohn (146,500), Tony Sinishtaj (117,500) and Aaron Johnson (85,500).

Some notables that were in action today but failed to find a bag include Maurice Hawkins, Eric Stocz, Aaron Massey, Tom Hammers, Irene Carey and Dan Heimiller. We can expect to see these players and many more back tomorrow to try again on Day 1c.

After the action wraps up tomorrow all of the Day 2 players will be known and the payouts will be posted. Last year's winner of this event, Matt Stammen took home $218,565 but that number is expected to be much larger this year. Stammen was seen in the field today but will have to try again tomorrow if he wants to make a run at defending his title.

Day 1c is anticipated to be the largest of the starting days and will be the last chance players have to get a seat on Day 2. The action will get underway tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. local time.
