Josh Reichard Wins MSPT Player of the Year

Josh Reichard finished in 24th place for $4,468, but with no other Player of the Year candidates remaining in the tournament he has wrapped up the top spot on the leaderboard for the 2022 season.

Reichard had ten MSPT Main Event cashes in 2022 and three final tables, and 2022 saw him achieve $2,000,000 in total career earnings. He also earned his way into the MSPT Hall of Fame in 2022 with his 25th career cash in an MSPT Main Event.

Waters Gets Away From One but Java Busts Him With Quads

Marquis Waters opened from the button and Patrick Ronan raised to 100,000 from the big blind. Waters called and the flop was .

Ronan continued for 100,000 after the flop and Waters called to see on the turn.

Ronan shoved the turn for just under 300,000 and Waters went into the tank. After he used two time banks, Waters tossed his hand in the muck and gave up the pot.

A few moments later, Waters was seen getting up to exit the tournament area with showing. The board read , and Waters had a pair of queens, but Nipun Java had tabled to eliminate Waters with quad fives.

Welcome to the Day 2 Finale of the MSPT Venetian Main Event

Welcome to the Day 2 finale of the $1,110 Mid-States Poker Tour(MSPT) Main Event at Venetian Las Vegas. Cards go in the air at 11:00 a.m. local time for the return of 71 surviving players from two opening flights.

Ezequiel Waigel will return with the overall chip leader after he bagged 730,000 on Day 1a. His closest competitor is Day 1b chip leader, Francis Anderson, with 575,000 and Varun Uppal returns with 476,000. Adam Hendrix and Mitchell Halverson round out the top five with 459,000 and 448,000, respectively.

Other returning players include Jeremy Ausmus, Kenny Huynh, Barry Shulman, Nipun Java, Ryan Laplante, and 2022 MSPT Player of the Year Josh Reichard, who sealed the deal on his top leaderboard spot at the close of Day 1b.

The tournament drew 643 entries and generated a prize pool of $620,495. All 71 returning players are guaranteed a min-cash of $2,048, while the winner will take home the top prize of $113,170.
