Day 1a is in the books at the Mid Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) $1,110 Main Event at Sycuan Casino in San Diego. The $300,000 guaranteed tournament saw a total of 119 entries but only 18 remain after 15 Levels of play.

Leading the way is Jason "Clozer" Kapoor (395,000) from Detriot. He caught fire late in the night and will be in a great position heading into Day 2. Hot on his heels is Ken Baime (388,000) who spent most of the night on the top of the leaderboard.

A few others to find a bag include David Leese (255,000), Justin “Miles” Barnum (127,000), Shaun Davis (203,000), and ClubGG qualifier Josiah Pittman.

All players who advance will return Sunday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. to play down to a winner.

Some of those to bust throughout the day included well-known players Rich Alsup, Kyna England, Nissar Quraishi, and Benjamin Moon, as well as ClubGG qualifiers Colin Grylls, Woo Oh, and John Pelligra.

Players will still have two more opportunities to qualify on Friday (September 23rd) and Saturday (September 24th) for Day 1b and Day 1c. Both of those flights have a 3:00 p.m. starting time.

Keep up with the all updates here on PokerNews as a new MSPT champion is crowned.
