Sindler Leads Into Day 2; Tuthill, Ebanks, Bardah, Serock Still Alive

Welcome back for PokerNews' Day 2 live coverage of the 2013 PPC Aruba World Championship Main Event. At time of writing, the field has grown to 86 entries. Charles Pearson has entered before the start of play today to make up the additional entry, and there might be a couple more people entering by the time the cards are in the air thanks to some last-minute satellites.

There are 29 players remaining, and it is Day 1a chip leader Stephen Sindler leading the way with 211,600 in chips. Rounding out the top three are Igor Merda with 195,600 and Sterling Savill with 178,600, and then it's reigning champion Joe Serock bringing up the rear with 21,400 in chips.

Outside of that bunch of players to advance, notables Hayden Fortini, David Tuthill, Steve Karp, Joe Ebanks, Ronnie Bardah, and Andy Seth all remain. Both Ebanks and Bardah are World Series of Poker gold bracelet winners, while Tuthill is a former WSOP Circuit Main Event champion.

As it stands right now, first place looks to be in the ballpark of $70,000-$75,000, but that figure will depend on the final number of entries in the field. Keep in mind that both Serock and Seth have fired four bullets in this event, so they'll need some very deep runs to earn a profit. The tentative plan for the day is to play down to the final table, where everyone left should be in the money.

Day 2 is set to begin at 3 p.m. local time, and hopefully the remaining competitors aren't too tired from some early afternoon fun in the sun. It's going to be a long and exciting day of poker here in Aruba, so be sure to stay tuned for all of the action coming your way shortly.

Sindler Slams Turn To Bust Rodriguez

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

If you thought Stephen Sindler was running hot on Day 1a, what until you read what just happened here as he scored the first elimination of the day by busting out Neil Rodriguez.

Rodriguez and Sindler got all in on the {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. Rodriguez was at risk holding top set with {7-}{7-}. Sindler had an overpair with the {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The turn was the {8-Clubs} delivering Sindler with a set of eights to vault him into the lead, and then the river completed the board with the {Q-Hearts}. Rodriguez was eliminated while Sindler climbed to 254,000 in chips.

Seth Doubles with Jacks

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

From under the gun, Andy Seth raised to 3,700. Arun C. reraised from the hijack seat to 15,700, then play folded back to Seth. He took some time, then reraised all in for 34,900. Arun called.

Seth tabled the {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and was up against Arun's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} to give Seth the double. Arun was left with 17,000 in chips.

Simon Doesn't Go with His Gut

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Damien Simon raised from middle position to 3,800, and then action folded to Pieter S. in the cutoff seat. Pieter reraised and made it 9,000 to go. Play folded back to Simon, and he began to tank.

"I feel like this is the time I should do it," said Simon after some thought, hinting that he should be going all in. "But I'm going to lay this down," he finished, showing the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

Simon Busts Rivas

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Maybe Damien Simon's option to go against his gut recently was the correct move as it allowed him to stick around a bit longer and bust Jose Rivas from the tournament in 30th place.

Action folded to Simon in the small blind, and he limped in. Rivas checked his option in the big blind, and the flop came down {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} to pair the board, and Simon led for 2,500. Rivas raised all in for around 15,000, and Simon snapped him off with the {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a full house. Rivas was drawing dead with the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The river completed the board with the meaningless {K-Hearts}, and Rivas was out the door.

Navarrete and Tomlinson Gone

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, Jeff Tomlinson called all in against Joe Ebanks. Tomlinson had the {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for top pair, but Ebanks had him dominated with the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and the river was the {10-Hearts}. Tomlinson was eliminated while Ebanks climbed to 130,000.

On another table, Brandon Navarrete was eliminated, and the field has been cut down to 27 players.
