Life In Plastic Isn't Always Fantastic

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante
Aqua
Aqua

René Dif has become the first casualty of the Unibet Open London. Dif gained prominence as the lead singer of the Danish band Aqua, famous for their monster hit "Barbie Girl". Jumping straight from the aquarium to make a splash on the green felt didn't exactly go as planned, though.

According to his (former) table mate Gerrit Van Lancker, a player bet 300 on a {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop. Dif made it 10,000 to go, the initial better went all in for 30,000 and Dif called it off.

Dif held {A-}{Q-} for just ace-high and his opponent tabled {J-}{J-} for a set of jacks. Neither turn nor river was a ten, giving Dif plenty of time to party with Barbie.

Barabas Drags One

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With the pot already up to over 5,000, action was on Zoltan Barabas' opponent. On a board of {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}, he checked and Barabas bet 4,700. His opponent called, then both players quickly checked the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Barabas showed {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} and dragged the pot as his opponent mucked.

Straight Flush Gets Paid

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Belgium's Domien Van Der Elst just made a straight flush in the early stages, which got paid off quite handsomely as well. After two players limped in, Van Der Elst completed with {5-Clubs}{2-Spades} in the small blind. The flop came down {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and all players checked.

On the {Q-Hearts} turn, both players in the blinds checked to the first limper, who bet half the size of pot. Only Van Der Elst made the call.

The {3-Clubs} on the river was Van Der Elst's dream card, and he came out blasting with an overbet of 1,000. His opponent wasn't backing down, however, and raised to 2,000. Van Der Elst took a while before three-betting to 7,000 and his opponent snap-called. With a solemn look on his face, Van Der Elst's opponent flashed the {K-Clubs} before mucking.

"Why didn't you raise more?" asked Van Der Elst's opponent.

"I didn't know you would call more" said Van Der Elst.

"Of course, I can't put you on the five!" his opponent replied.

With the straight flush, Van Der Elst is up to 33,500.
