Afriat Good With Nut No-Pair

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Eric Afriat
Eric Afriat

Eric Afriat shoved on the river of a {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades} board with about 600,000 in the middle. His heads-up opponent had checked and was in the tank, having fewer chips than Afriat. Afriat's opponent eventually called and Afriat paused before revealing his hand, knowing he had been caught bluffing.

His opponent didn't table his hand either. So Afriat turned over {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for just king-high. His opponent just sat there stunned.

"He has king-high bro," a tablemate announced trying to help out.

"I know.. I have king-jack," replied Afriat's opponent as he pushed his stack forward and left the table.

Mamuzic Busts Guay in a Cooler

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
David Guay
David Guay

We didn't catch the action but a hand like the one David Guay and Ivan Mamuzic had just played as we arrived at the table speaks for itself.

Mamuzik had aces. Guay had kings. All the chips went in, and Guay wasn't able to hit.

Guay can still fire another bullet tonight if he chooses or has the option to fire the Day 1d turbo at noon on Monday or buy-in directly to Day 2.

Gong Echos Through Afriat

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With about 800,000 already in the middle of a {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} board, Jiachen Gong bet 390,000 sending Eric Afriat into the tank. After a few moments, Afriat made the call.

Gong tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a turned set of eights and an enraged Afriat was forced to muck his {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Afriat then laced Gong with an explicit song that may have carried a tune had his words been censored.

Huge Cooler Propels Paulin

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Pierre Paul Paulin
Pierre Paul Paulin

Pierre Paul Paulin has scored a huge double up after a sick cooler against Diana Shamshoum. We missed the action but witnessed the aftermath.

The board read {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{j-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Paulin's remaining stack of 1,278,000 was being cut down and Shamshoum was forced to match it. Laying in front of Paulin was {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and according to the table talk, all the money went in on the flop and Shamshoum lost with pocket queens.

Paulin is now among the top counts in the room.
